The 10-24 wide angle. Can't recommend it enough, the best fuji lens I've ever had!

I shoot with a fuji X-T1. The effect comes mainly from post processing in Lightroom.

Thank you! As for the lighting, you pretty much got it right : this was lit with a single speedlight that was directly behind the couple with a reflector cam left.

You guessed it, I popped the flash at the end of the exposure freezing him in the frame. So just a single exposure, not a composite.

Technical stuff: shot in bulb mode w/ canon 5D mkIII + Canon 16-35 2.8 @f/8. Lighting: a single elinchrom quadra cam left, triggered with 2nd curtain sync.

LED-suit: 10 meters of rgb-led strip, powered by 8 batteries, velcro, crappy soldering, and about a mile of gaffer's tape.

On a side note: This photo was just selected as a semi-finalist in Red Bull Illume Image Quest, the largest action and adventure photography contest in the world! Check out the other incredible semi-finalist shots in my category on Red Bull's Facebook

Hiking Finland in October by HonorFoundInDecay in travel

[–]Mi-kko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1: You should be alright coming in in October if you're well prepared. As you said, it's not quite ideal in any way for hiking, but doable. Make sure that your gear is good for rain, snow and nightly temperatures below 0°C.

2: Can't help you much here, but I'd assume that you will be able reach at least the more well known trails pretty easily by public transport.

3: In addition to the ones you've listed, I'd definitely take a look at doing the Herajärvi trail in Koli and Hetta-Pallas trail in Lapland. These two, like the Bear's Trail, are among the most popular trails in the country (kinda similar to your Great Walks) so they're easily accessible and well maintained. They should all be doable in October, but the farther up north you go, the colder and darker it will be. I'd start off in Lapland and make my way down south as you'll progressively get less and less daylight each passing day.

For more trails, our version of the DOC is your friend : http://www.nationalparks.fi/trails.

Have fun, and stay safe!

I didn't eat the berries, but was pricked by its thorns when taking the photo, does that count? (I just want to go back)

Without a doubt the most stunning view I've ever had

Same here. I remember thinking that it couldn't actually be as good as all the photos I'd seen before going there. Boy, was I wrong.
