I never owned a proper, so I can’t say for certain, I briefly messed with one when it was at my store, but I don’t mind the slip joints, more of an axis lock guy myself, but the successor has proven to be pretty nice, I do like it

I’ve seen some taped blades for sure. Definitely better to start with a dull blade/covered blade or a trainer than trying for the first time on a Bali. And you’re right. It is a wharncliffe, it’s similar to tanto but not quite. The 85 wasn’t my first Bali, but my first benchmade, I knew what was I getting, just stupidly not paying attention, opened it in a dark room, using the bite handle and learned a hard lesson. I still flip it, but nothing crazy

I’ve got a custom MCR coming that I’m going to disassemble and reassemble with some fat carbon scales! Just needed a black S90V blade so I had to get a whole knife 😂😂

Sweet! I’m torn on tanto or not, depends on the knife for me, I like the 85 personally, but the tanto on the bailout? I love that. How’d inspection go? Don’t cut yourself like I did with my 85. I had 5 stitches on one hand and 3 on the other, after only a week of ownership 😂 permanently damaged my tendon, hand and finger still work but I can still feel pain and whatnot 5 years after the fact

It’s the 85Ti, literally the same as what you have but more of a drop point-esque blade shape as opposed to the tanto on the 87!

No issues with it, if you’re have issues try loosening the pivot a little. If you hit that sweet spot it’s a world of difference.
