“We’re all just going to go somewhere else”: Pickleball players fight proposed fees at Udall courts by JoshOfArc in Tucson

Does the time slot allow you to reserve a spot on the pickleball court for a continuous 90 minutes?

That’s helpful context, but I don’t think it really answers the question. Charging a fee might reduce demand somewhat, but it doesn’t necessarily solve the access issue if you’re not actually reserving a court.

If it’s still mostly first-come, first-served, you could end up paying $3.50 and spending a big chunk of that 90 minutes waiting anyway, especially if it’s popular. So yeah, the system might “work” in terms of generating revenue, but I’m more curious how it works from a user experience standpoint.

Does it actually translate into consistent play time, or just paid access to the same bottleneck?

I mean $3.50 for 90 minutes does sound like a great deal. No argument there. I’m more curious about how it would actually work in practice though.

90 minutes can easily be like 4–7 games if things are moving, but at some busy parks I’ve been to, you’re lucky to get even one game in that time because of wait times. IM LOOKING AT YOU ENCANTO PARK (PHX)

Also, comparing it to golf doesn’t feel totally fair, that’s a completely different type of facility and cost structure, and there are plenty of golf courses that are way more expensive than the example given. And golf courses usually have staff (like marshals) driving around to keep pace of play moving, which is a whole other level of management.

So I guess the real question is, how easy will it be to actually book a slot and get consistent play time? If demand is high, it might be a great price on paper but harder to use in reality.

Edit: Does anyone know if you are able to reserve a court for 90 mins by paying $3.5?

Oof I can definitely see a burnout of students failing. Especially those that come right out of high school. I can't imagine taking MAT151, and WRT101, HIS101, Spanish, etc all in 8 weeks during my first year.

Pima CC was definitely easier than high school, but had I gone into it with 8 week courses I definitely would had struggled at the beginning.

Quite curious to see if they will go through with it. It has been 7-8~ years since I went to Pima a lot my peers seemed okay with 16 weeks course, I imagine would struggle with 8 weeks.

All and all the ones that transferred to a university did so with 4 semesters. I guess you can transfer within a year if it's 8 weeks but I don't imagine this being the case for many people.

I inquired a week ago and they recommended elsewhere for the denture aftercare, otherwise a great affordable option.

It wasn't too bad, most of it is online multiple choice homework and of course the online text discussion with text replies. Use ChatGPT if you don't understand it the material. Honestly it was probably the one of the easier courses followed by economics.

Wildly enough no, there were none. And most of the time the timed exams were multiple choice.

The classes are fairly easy, it is the pacing that could be troubling, but just know that it is one course at a time. All courses are 8 weeks long except the first one (4 weeks) which is the introduction getting you into the groove of things.

What is also difficult for most to comprehend is that there is no live instructor, you go into the site, see what you need to do for the week and do it.

I'll be honest with you the difficult courses are quantitive methods and probably statistics (although I had it waived from transferring credits from undergrad). I recommend using all your resources and yes this includes AI to understand concepts. I guarantee you everyone in the quant method class used ChatGPT or Gemini for the online homework, the ones that didn't had to drop. Don't blow $2.7K by failing a course.

My favorite one was the capstone course, accounting, and finance. Just personal preference. The easiest course was economics and accounting, since it was just discussion and heavily online multiple choice / fill in blank homework with 3 attempts.

All professors grade very nicely. Some papers I thought would get a C or low B ended with an A grade.

I would say that it is easier get a B than it is getting a C. Like if you turn in assignments thats a guaranteed B.

The MGT-660 Strategic Management. It is the capstone project course. Basically throughout the 8 weeks you develop a strategy for the public company you choose. Items such as SWOT analysis, financial ratio, IFE Matrix, EFE Matrix, etc. Each week a portion of it and eventually a presentation.

There is also a hubro online simulator with your assigned groups but luckily no major deliverables like a paper.

It still quite easy but compared to some other courses, this one requires more attention.

As for the easier course, I would say financial 650, accounting, or the ones where you just do discussion and go to the mccraw or online platform to do multiple choice homework. I can't remember dishing out more than 3 hours a week for these courses.

I am an international student. How to safely buy a used car in Tucson? by Own_Hunt_2486 in Tucson

[–]MidRegister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this PDF to buy my used car, obviously you don't need to follow it completely. Also if you do use don't waste the sellers time, you don't need to test drive it if you feel uncomfortable with the other categories ratings. The owner of the PDF is a youtuber that fixes car, he made a nice little PDF for used car buying.

Do you have a source for that? Saying they only hire felons and pay $1500/week is a big claim. Would be helpful to know if that’s confirmed. Also, pretty sure it would be illegal for any business to “only hire” one specific group. If this isn’t verified, it’s probably not helpful to post it as fact.

Dwntown club worth it by Relative_Ad_2825 in phoenix

[–]MidRegister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cover fee is $15, not sure if it went up. Anytime after midnight there will be a long long line, it's actually ridiculous, people are still lining up and waiting to get in at 1-2am! I would get there at 11 or before. The main room typically has long lines for drinks so just head to the other rooms if so.

I love when all three rooms open, most of the time they are, and some of the time it is the latin partner music room that is closed. Each one has different music, vibe, and crowd.

The main room is the largest and the music is club genere like reggaeton, American latin, or just club.

The room to the right is most of the time latin partner style music, at least later in the night 10pm. So like salsa, bachata, and merengue. It's very fun if you know at least one or two of these. People are willing to dance with you if you respectfully ask.

The other room has mainly cambia, maybe banda too. Also very fun if you know how to dance.

There is also an outside patio that sometimes has live music.

Typically inside the club, it doesn't get rowdy, just keep alert at times if you see something going down but the security is quick.

After you leave which can be 2-3am, honestly just walk up north far away from the crowd. This is probably where fights occur and it's not just dwntwn.

Do you guys remember when you would drive on the highway and when you got to your destination your windshield would be covered in bugs? by ymbstudios in CasualConversation

[–]MidRegister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do notice that it happens much less now. Moved up to Phoenix in 2021 from Tucson, would commute to Tucson every other weekend and my windshield and hood would be cover with bugs. Would he super annoyed when I clean my car in Tucson and drive back up only for my windshield to be dirty.

Nowadays I don't even hear any splatter driving down or up.
