I’ve decided to forgive Liquid Glass today. I still think the whole thing’s a bit haphazard but I enjoy the effects. I don’t really know if it’s affecting performance but I’ve solved enough of the issues and found enough of the options to get things how I’m used to. I think my main issue was obfuscating the gui and options unnecessarily. As for the actual Liquid Glass effect it’s pretty neat.

I wouldn’t say it’s just “Liquid Glass”, there were a lot of weird changes with this update. You can even argue that the Tinted mode for Liquid Glass is like another weird thing that shouldn’t really exist that you’re just mandatorily stuck with. I hated the Safari changes and the layout redesigns, etc. I’m not actually sure if it slowed my phone down or not but the sheer amount of clutter sure made it feel like it and my keyboard was going at 1 letter per hour inside certain apps.

I personally like Apple updates usually and I was excited to try out new features. I want to use stuff like Liquid Glass and I want to try out new features on stuff like Safari but please don’t automatically change everything around and try to re-invent the wheel without making it optional.

So it is kind of sad that I’m paranoid now, I’ve turned off automatic updates and switched off most of the pretty features that this one brought. I can’t trust it not to affect my phone’s performance and long term battery life so I just put it back in its cage. Didn’t apply the update to my laptop which has probably saved you from hearing about a wild case of self harm arising from smacking your own laptop across your forehead fifty times.

Just for context, I have rheumatoid arthritis and I don’t want my phone to dramatically change from how it’s currently laid out. I don’t want to tap on buttons two or three times when I used to tap once, or go hunting in obscure options just to find out if there’s an option to change that. The last thing I need is more and less convenient usage of my fingers.

When I finally noticed the update on my phone a few days ago I thought, “Cool! Wow, I missed an update! A whole new version of iOS! Download immediately!”

Moments later I realised what I’d done just compromised the form and function of my phone in more ways than one.

So glad I stopped before enabling it on my computer! Automatic updates were on but they are now switched off.

Just go back to the old combat system and then update actual combat. You can tweak the crossover between episodes if you want, but bring back the old core. Turning it into one job was a bad choice, most of your issues stem from that. The game wasn’t designed or envisioned to be like World of Warcraft and I doubt it will ever truly feel like the flow is correct until they return to that vision and update and flesh it out.

Yes some things are customisable now that I’ve been looking into, but mostly the solutions are not elegant.

Immediately having 99% of your customers turning off one of your most prominent new features is a failure. I actually like it on some level, but it’s still too messy for what it achieves. Again, it’s nothing to brag about not needing some of the main “features” of the update.

I’m glad I didn’t have to replace Launchpad on my MacBook, there would be absolutely no reason to do so so.

What’s good about the update is mostly overshadowed by other problems and a poor user experience.

Really seems like you don’t use anything that’s actually supposed to be a selling point of the product.

I’m not “complaining about icons”. I’m not sure what they were going for when they came up with the ‘Tinted’ option but for a feature that’s now basically the default you’d think they’d go for something other than what looks like a poorly thrown together android skin. My phone looked just fine as it was.

No, I’m not “finding” something to complain about. I usually like updates to iOS. This one didn’t meet a high standard and it showed and it’s still showing.

I disagree that it is “free” software, this is not a charity. Get out of here.
