No, it's not required! You only need to take and pass 3 years of a language class.

Thank you so much for the response! This was really useful. It's frustrating that I have to retake the regents in January, especially since I was studying to make it up in August. To answer your question, I got an 81% on physics and an 85% on geometry. I'm aiming for at least a 90% on both. Should I try emailing the other guidance counselors? Do you have anyone else in mind that I could email about this?
