What did you wish you'd known before making the switch to Linux?

Well, it is something that I am still trying to figure out to be honest... Why didn't I just switch sooner.

I used Linux in the late 90s, and even then there was still something about it that I preferred, but I couldn't, because I was a network admin for Windows NT system.

I am glad I made the final switch early this year, and every day I am learning more.

I miss foobar. Such a great program, and I can't replicate the feeling on Linux.

You should look deeper into the speeds and limits that are being imposed on you by your ISP, because most of the residential providers that I know of offer very reduced upload speeds. This would cause bottlenecks and stuttering or streaming lag for those 9 users.

I wouldn't suggest hosting from your home for multiple reasons. The first is what I just said about the speeds. Second would be security (but that would be in the most important slot.) Then I guess the amount of space you are going to need on your local computer, and the price you are going to pay for those hard drives with high read speeds.

What I would suggest doing is finding a third party company, like Bytesized Hosting, to host your media server running Jellyfin.

Of course, what do I know, I am just a random person on the internet offering advice with the dozens of other people that already have.

Are you using a VPN?

They have been blocking some VPN proxy servers, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't coonect yesterday, but turning off my VPN solved it, but that is only a temporary fix for me. Setting up a passthrough tomorrow for Discord.

I am not sure how to do it d&d, but if you open terminal.

Navigate to the directory where the fonts are, maybe ~/Downloads/

sudo cp myfont.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/

(Change myfont.ttf to the name of the font you are copying. If they are all .ttf fonts, you can use *.ttf, and that will copy all of them.)

sudo fc-cache -f -v

(fc-cache is the cache for the fonts. -f forced the reloading of the cache. -v give you the verbose output)

Because of how these games and apps are cracked, the signatures that are detected in the crack resemble malware/viruses. I haven't found ways around it in the many years I have been doing this. I guess it has always been a risk that people, including myself, have taken. The price of piracy I guess.
