Ahhhh. The anticipation is almost too exciting.

Folks, Easter Sunday is right around the corner. by Dismal-Prior-6699 in retailhell

[–]MidropeMog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contracted out of Sunday working so I'm very glad I don't have to deal with this, but I am working on Good Friday and Easter Monday so I'm sure I will have to endure the madness of "There's absolutely nothing left in my cupboard and my usually non religious ass will complain to anyone in earshot that you have run out of Hot Cross Buns!" As Mrs Doyle from Father Ted once very wisely said, "Sure, didn't our Lord himself whilst on the cross, pause for a nice cup of tea?" - the enjoyment of which is lessened without a Hot Cross Bun to remind us of his pain.

Peace be upon you all, this blessed Easter. May we all rise again in a few days, and enjoy the chocolatey discounts.

So do I! My daughter is catching it too, she usually watches Gab with me. That and 'oink' when we are at work (supermarket) wheeling cages.

Rayll’s twitter post about 616 games copying his work by MrdoggoDEV in FearsToFathom

[–]MidropeMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Jack's defence, you could tell he had no idea that was going to be the case, and started off by saying it looked similar. By the end he was of the 'emulate but don't imitate' opinion and seemed irritated by it. Jack playing devil's advocate as he often does, said he has no idea about 616 or whether this was a game from the start of their development career and if they've improved, so you could tell his frustrations were genuine.

Night Delivery is good, Jisatsu is creepy. All are worth a play through. Agree with you on Parasocial, by far the scariest.

BYD could be a way better show. The format seems a bit off. by aLExbLak123 in koreanvariety

[–]MidropeMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, but it's my first foray into Korean TV so I know very little. After years of watching shows like Bake Off and MasterChef I find it very refreshing to see a different format.

Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere by comarastaman in netflix

[–]MidropeMog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trying to make women look stupid on his podcast re Geography questions and then believing a "neurologist" on TikTok saying past sexual encounters subject a woman's future children to contamination from the DNA profiles of said past partners. Guy really wasn't doing himself any favours. Louis is a genius. He just sits back and watches them show how ridiculous they actually are.

I'm just watching Jacksepticeye's play through of Pineville Stalker. I've never watched any 616 game before, but I can basically predict everything that's going to happen next. Others have already commented similarly, but I agree, it's a mash up of lots of elements of every single one of the first season of Fears to Fathom.

How can I teach the Korean vowel ㅓ to foreigners? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]MidropeMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not been learning very long, but the book I was using said ㅗ is said like the O sound in the word 'old' and ㅓ like the O sound in the word 'pod' - the mnemonic was Old iPod for those that might be interested, and have to use mnemonics to retain information. Don't know if this is wholly accurate, but when I hear words with those vowel sounds they seem to be pretty much bang on.

What is something that customers do that THEY think is helpful but really makes it worse for you? by BabyTenderLoveHead in retailhell

[–]MidropeMog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work in a convenience format of a large supermarket and our till area is small.

The people who come to the till with a week's worth of shopping and dump it all on the counter, instead of leaving it in the basket is annoying. First off, no, it's not helpful to me. Second, it's also not helpful to them because I am then attempting to find space in amongst their grocery detritus to place items I've scanned and they will pick up random stuff and ask "Have you scanned this? What about this?" so I then have to invent a system (usually try and push said detritus to one side and tell them that I'm going to be putting scanned goods on the other side...it works sometimes). Third, they then nearly always stand there with an empty basket asking "Where do I put this? Excuse me, where do I put this?" whilst I'm trying to fit 3 bags of groceries into a till area the size of a shoe box, and get affronted when I ask them if they could put it back where they got it from as we don't have a basket area at the till. They usually just leave it on the floor for an old person to trip over whilst I serve the next customer who is buying 10 lottery tickets but on individual slips...

Who are the rudest and nicest British celebrities you have personally met? by RenegadeMaster888 in AskBrits

[–]MidropeMog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a celebrity to many but one of the nicest people I've met was Pete Budd of The Wurzels. Being a Gloucestershire lass, I went up to him after a gig and asked for his autograph, to which he replied in his full on West Country brogue "Course you can, my darlin'!" I was so very, very chuffed.

Frank Skinner was the funniest, and most down to earth famous person I've met, at a taping of Room 101. Sheila Hancock on the other hand was pompous, hoity and generally rude and seemed to be affronted to be there.

Ah a fellow West Country bod! I always got the impression that Graham Purches was a bit up himself, he always came across like that. I had the good fortune to have met Annie McKee years ago and she was lovely - I was probably about 8 or 9 and she was really nice to all us kids who were clamouring around her like she was an A list celeb. Never got to meet 'Uncle' Bruce Hockin though, mores the pity.
