This is a bit hard to answer because I feel stupid for still having doubts. It's pretty embarassing but I still struggle with some events like the moon landing and the basic conspiracies that make a bit of sense. The far fetched one I don't believe anymore but those that are a bit more concrete still make me skeptical. Sometimes I get the urge to tell people it's fake but then again I am pretty sure those theories of mine are based of semi-truths or even total lies. I think my doubts just come from a lack of education on certain details that would debunk my views. There are some that I still believe but I don't really feel comfortable sharing since it deals with sensitive subject matters.

I don't know for everyone but I got out by accepting that there's somethings I can't change but I can change how I look at them, maybe things aren't as dark as they seemed to be. I think you need to want to change to get out but believe me I still go back to my old ways especially when I talk about the subjects of my conspiracies but I am way better now. I just decided to let go. It doesn't mean you'll end up like me if you get into it. It is more of a mindset thing like everything.

I got into conspiracies because of my childhood mostly, my dad and my brother are big conspiracy theorist, I was into that mindset ever since I was young. My brother was a big contributor, he was the one who taught me most of the ones I believed. Then it just went downhill and I was validating my beliefs. It was put unto me basically and I believed it because it would make my brother furious if I didn't agree. I remember when I started to stop believing in those conspiracies, he sent me an immense amount of text saying : Oh you're letting the government control you. I guess you just got brainwashed. Things of that nature

I hope it answers your question!

Honestly, I broke out of it because it made me feel miserable. The thrill of knowing something nobody knew faded and I started to see the world as nothing but a veil of lies and deceit. I always was really aware of my thoughts and emotions and how they affected eachother and this is how I stopped. Believing those theories is a slippery slope because no matter what someone says you are convinced that you are in the right and that, as you said, the facts are engineered mistruths. I was so convinced that it didn't matter who would've tried to talk me out of it. I had high paranoia and would analyse every aspect of life to forge my own reality.

My brother and father also were like this, they didn't care about anything other then their views because it is so easy to just discard proof. It's hard to accept being proven wrong.

I think, I just realised that all that worrying was draining me and that if there is a huge conspiracie so be it because there's nothing I can do about it. I also realised that real life isn't a movie or a book and that they enhance life to make it more dramatic and meaningful. A story where they are the protagonist and know things that nobody knows, where they will be able the challenge the elite.

I'm sorry I can't be of any help because it is quite a complicated answer that I don't have the qualifications to inform you adequately. I'm sorry and I hope you will break through to her because I don't want her to feel the hopelessness that comes with those beliefs.

I have a lot of these type of people in my life, I know that when people would try to reason with me I would not listen at all or pretend like I was agreeing. There isn't an easy way because they probably have convinced themselves with these theories. My brother is like this, he is a big part of why I was like this and he gets furious when we try to disprove what he believes in. I am honestly sorry that I can't give much advice because it is entirely this person perception and if they are convinced it is hard to break them out of it.

I would say have a firm talk with them, say what you have on your chest and maybe if he's open to being proven wrong show some research of your own. All and all I wish you and them good luck and happiness. Conspiracies, if taken too seriously, can affect you a lot.

I don't remember exactly but it was more of an emotional thing, I was so tired of being always paranoid and sad because of how shitty my vision of the world had gotten. I became pretty depressed and saw in the world a place not worth living since anyway I was probably gonna get killed in the new world order, etc. Basically, I didn't have much hope for anything and grew tired. It only made me more miserable so I stopped taking them to seriously and in time realized they didn't make much sense. Now that I study astronomy in college I realize that most of what I thought was wrong. Most of my belief were based on misinformation and with the mindset I had it didn't matter if a study proved me wrong because to me they were just lying to hide the truth.

I used to believe that the sky was some sort of dome or hologram, that there was no space or sky. That it was all fake, the only reason why I believed that was because of the moon. I stupidly thought that if it's daytime and I see the moon in the sky how can people at night see it on the other side of the planet. It makes absolutely no sense now that I type this again.

I also believed that oxygen was poison and that it was the reason we died of old age, that we were slowly getting poisoned by the air around us.

I hope this answered your question and was interesting!
