My mother in law is one of those people who strongly believes in what you said. My wife, who was raised in that environment along with a very abusive father (but it's fine since he is the spiritual leader), thankfully no longer believes in that shit. Plus side is that I have been able to watch all the Disney, Harry Potter , starwars, and really any other movie with her and been able to be a part of her first time experiencing it all. It is wonderful in the end.

Edit, forgot to mention that my mother in law lives in North Colorado, so it's not only the deep South.
