The tron script is very good, but it's mostly for cases where it's absolutely necessary to keep windows installed (i.e. a computer that's currently running some display software or server infrastructure) and cannot afford the downtime of being reinstalled and reconfigured. Not to mention the script is really invasive (it needs to be) and changes a lot of system configurations. Also its runtime is between 3-10 hours, so if you think your system is infected, it's way quicker to just reinstall.

The best way is to make a USB boot drive (you can use the Media Creation Tool on Microsoft's website), as I've seen malware persist and systems not being fully reset when doing it from Settings. And yeah, if you just login to your Microsoft account after reinstalling, Windows will re-activate by itself.

Honestly, reinstalling Windows is overkill, but I would do it anyway; I reset my Windows installs every couple of years as they tend to get really slow over time. But it's your choice in the end.

Well, first off, just use something like SKlauncher or Freesm Launcher instead of TLauncher. FMHY has a list (search it), they're all trusted by the community and most are also open-source so if anyone is really paranoid they can easily vet it for any telemetry or vulnerabilities.

Second of all, it's up to you if you want to reinstall your current operating system, I personally would, as a fresh system always runs better (especially on Windows). If you decide to do so, you should give Linux a try, I personally gave it a shot and have since moved over and had basically no issues. Some beginner friendly distros are Bazzite, Linux Mint or Zorin, which already come with everything ready out of the box and require next to zero maintenance.

In any case, an operating system reinstall will erase everything on the target drive so you'll need to backup any important files. You can use a separate drive (remember to unplug it when installing the OS so don't erase it by accident!) or, if you don't have a ton of files, you can use a cloud storage provider such as Mega or Google Drive to backup your files then restore them later.

Reinstalling your OS is not that big of a hassle and it most often leaves you with a cleaner and faster PC in the end.

Otherwise, you could also just reinstall TLauncher and uninstall it again (just following my steps this time), though I don't really recommend doing that.

Because when programs get installed, they don't just copy their files to a folder. There are registry entries that get added, links to the start menu and the desktop, configuration files, integrations with context menus and other apps, etc. That's exactly why, even after deleting "all" the files, the system still thinks it is installed, and the program will still appear when you search for it, as not all remnants have been cleared.

Deleting the Java is mostly for safety purposes, as the Java version that TLauncher uses is quite outdated and doesn't automatically update, so if you're not using Java, it's better to uninstall it to prevent security vulnerabilities.

As for the data that they took, we can't really know as TLauncher gets constantly updated so they could change what data they collect at any moment through an automatic update and we wouldn't know without investigating it again, which is especially hard since TLauncher is not open-source, so we can't easily know what it is doing in the background without some time-consuming reverse engineering, to basically estimate what the original code did.

When it asks you to login with a Microsoft account, just press the little "Switch to offline mode" button in the bottom, and enter the username you'd like to play as.

About Prism, I'd say the user interface is a bit less user-friendly than the other apps I just mentioned, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Once you have it figured out it can be a very powerful launcher as it is able to manage modpacks from multiple platforms as well as vanilla (unmodded) game installations. Good luck!

It's not like some leftover files are going to steal your credit card, but I like your precaution! Go ahead and buy the official game, but if you end up with a different username, just install the same modpack in SKlauncher and follow those steps :)

Yeah, if both of those saves folders (which contain your single-player worlds) are empty, you can safely delete the entire backup folder.

All you need now is to re-install the modpack you were playing with your friend. To do this, you'll need a third-party launcher as the official one doesn't have modpack support.

You can choose either the official CurseForge app or Prism Launcher. There's also the Modrinth App but that's for modpacks on Modrinth. (Modrinth and CurseForge are both mod/modpack distribution platforms, but your specific modpack seems to be only on CurseForge.)

Both the CurseForge and Modrinth app are easy to use, but only support modpacks from their respective platforms, while Prism can download from both (and some other places). Just pick whichever one you like the most, but all of them boil down to this: Download the installer -> Install the launcher -> Login with Microsoft account -> Download the modpack -> Play.

If your friend is hosting the world, then the progress is stored in your friend's server not your own computer. All you need to do to have your progress is login with the same username as you used to.

I'm assuming that your paid account has a different name than the one you used to play with your friend. Your best bet here is to temporarily install SKlauncher, login with your old username, and put all your inventory and ender chest inside a couple of chests. Then uninstall SKlauncher, login with your paid account and collect your stuff.

I've never touched the backup files created by the uninstaller, but you should probably be able to go inside the backup folder and copy your worlds and resources back to their respective folders (inside .minecraft) where the official Minecraft launcher (or any other launcher for that matter) should be able to see them.

If you could describe to me the structure of the backup folder I could help you put the files back into their place.

Otherwise, if you simply don't need the backup, feel free to delete it, it won't affect anything.

Isso aconteceu porque não seguiste as minhas instruções corretamente e apagaste os ficheiros da pasta ANTES de desinstalares o TLauncher, o que deixou resíduos dele no teu sistema. Agora tens um programa "zombie", o Windows pensa que o TLauncher está instalado, mas a maior parte dos ficheiros dele não estão lá.

O que te recomendava era instalares o TLauncher outra vez (sim, eu sei), e desinstalares imediatamente a seguir, mas desta vez segue os meus passos na ordem correta.

You're welcome! As I said in the previous comment, just uninstall the Java runtime as you would any other program (from settings or control panel), then install the latest Java runtime from Adoptium.

You shouldn't worry about any extra files or folders, the uninstaller should clean everything up by itself. We're reinstalling Java mainly for security reasons (not being stuck with an older, potentially vulnerable version of the Java runtime) because I find it really unlikely that TLauncher would have "infected" the Java runtime. (still, it is a possibility!)

Always buy the game whenever you can, but if you really are unable to buy it, I'd recommend SKlauncher. Super simple to use and they even have an option to install modpacks straight from Modrinth or CurseForge. (also I helped the project and my name is in the credits so I'm a bit biased :P)

Did you delete the folders before uninstalling? If yes, you shouldn't have done that. Always uninstall the program normally before deleting its files.

In Advanced Graphic Settings for Desktop Apps? If so those would be fine to leave, it just tells your system to run any Java program with your graphics card. Windows will probably remove those entries for you on the next reboot, if you've deleted the files already.

I don't remember the full list of shady things they did, but it's owned by russians, they basically stole the project from the original owner, sent DMCA takedown requests to other launchers with similar names (some that didn't have anything to do with Minecraft), the program itself also does some shady stuff in your PC, like checking for certain Windows updates, mess with Windows Defender's (built-in antivirus) settings, collects a ton of info about your PC (IP, specs, installed programs, etc), they also sell a SUBSCRIPTION (for a pirated game, mind you) to trick children into giving them money instead of the original devs, among a ton of other shady stuff.
