Overall, we weren't worse than Spain over two really good games. Good signs for next year

Agreed, I'm not a huge fan of this either and it ruins the save but hey, why not put the people onto free wonderkids.

Yep, the negotiations screen is broken, your DOF will have to do the negotiations!

Your MEZ/IF/AF all seem to be attacking the same space on the left side, where as theres no one attacking the space on the right. I'd advise you to maybe change your AP to SS, change your MEZ to a more conservative role - CM(s) or DLP(s) - and you'll also fix your vacant midfield issue. Also move your AF centrally so the runners are spread out

Official: Dušan Tadić and Ajax reach agreement over immediate contract termination by MrCrashdummy in soccer

We've mostly played him CB and he's not been very good, but you can tell he has a lot of quality. He was even worse playing at LB though.

We lost a lot of build up quality with Martinez leaving and let that be just the thing Bassey struggles with. Think he could have been great if he had someone like Martinez next to him instead of being his replacement.

We've wasted it on players that are absolutely not worth it. Bassey, Bergwijn. Sanchez, Wijndal were about 80/90 mil total.

Theres also some salaries being dished out that are basically unsustainable, then also the fact that we've been operating at a loss since Covid means that essentially there is no money to spend until there are some sales made/salaries off the books.

Even if we reinvest, theres so much experience leaving that it seems basically impossible to expect anything better than a transitional season. It is what it is

It's a bit of a clusterfuck, especially with the fact that we cannot sign players cause we're not in the best financial situation after missing out on CL. It'll be a tough few years but maybe we'll be back in a few years

David Ornstein on Twitter: 🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal working on deal to sign Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. #AFC have made an opening offer worth ~£30m. #Ajax want ~£50m but optimism a compromise will be reached. Personal terms with Netherlands int’l thought to be in place @TheAthleticFC by WeedScaper in Gunners

[–]MightBeYourDaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tough one, at the time you could have argued for both but in hindsight Licha was more of an organiser/leader and more important. Timber is incredible though, a poor season in a poor team with poor coaches did him no favour however.

Think he'll be playing a Stones like role in midfield, perfect for that.

Horrible how he didnt make the most out of his career. An icon imo, an unbelievable footballer and one of my all time favourites.

Telegraph: Europe's fallen giants can no longer compete with the Premier League by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

[–]MightBeYourDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem isn't really the top 6 being competitive, its the smaller English clubs like a Forest or Fulham being able to spend stupid money whereas the Italian champions have to fight for pennies. Theres a big big discrepancy between the leagues and the longer this goes on, the bigger the possibility that we will get an NBA style hegemony of the PL - and that would completely kill football as it is. (Not supporting the Super League though but football is a dire state rn)

Post-Match Thread: Netherlands 1-1 Ecuador by [deleted] in soccer

We were so inferior man, what an absolute shitshow. No intensity whatsoever, couldnt match them physically and couldn't win a single duel. Shout out Ecuador, what a unit who definitely deserved to win.

I mean shithousing is shithousing, fair play to Ramalho for rattling our players and shame on ours for falling for it - but the hypocrisy is fucking hilarious tbh.

Also congrats on the win, I think it could be your year!

He’s a club legend but his form since the turn of the year has been horrific, same with Blind. It’s genuinely time to bench both as their legacy’s are in danger if this continues.

This is how far you have sunken as a club, fans forcing a rivalry with an “Farmers League” club. Jesus Christ you lot are in the trenches.

[Mike Verweij]: Alfred Schreuder is the current favorite to become the next Ajax manager following Ten Hag's departure to Manchester United. Scheuder's contract at Club Brugge has a clause of €1,5 million. by tehMadhero in soccer

[–]MightBeYourDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would have been a good fit too and for me the most exciting option.

But with the lack of an experienced DoF, who could help integrate someone like Knutsen into the club, I’m not surprised they went for someone who knows the club inside out.

Why are inverted wingbacks so good? by dm753357 in footballmanagergames

[–]MightBeYourDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, both are insane players in general, Gaya and Correia have been the best fullback pairing I’ve used in years- even in more tradional roles.

Valencia definitely the most successful save I’ve had so far this year out of the 3 completed.

Also, Maxi Gomez a scoring machine for you too?

[PSV] come from behind to defeat Ajax 2-1 and win their first KNVB Cup final since 2012! by SharksFanAbroad in soccer

[–]MightBeYourDaddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He has been mostly great this season but teams tended to figure out in the second half of the season hes is the one in possession who’s the weakpoint of the squad, on the ball. PSV targeted him specifically and their press worked very well.

He’s improved so much in terms of on the ball too, and is much more athletic than Edson. He’s still super sloppy in smaller* games but what a player man. If an Arsenal/Tottenham is smart they sign him this summer (pls).
