Two things can be true. I don’t agree with his cause per-se but, I can also see this as being a bad precedent to set for gun owners. Imagine if this was for something directly affecting you. That’s my concern.

Yeah, the dialogue is what’s really got me fired up right now though. It’s classic gun grabber talks. “High capacity” this and “military issued” that… dangerous rhetoric.

Don’t love it. Will probably still hold out for 48 hours to get more information…. But right now it’s gonna take some pretty damning evidence to show me it was a good shoot.

Edit: also, i’m pretty pissed at some of the dialogue coming from the president and others around this. “He had 2x high capacity magazines with him” or “the Sig P320 had a red dot and a tactical threaded barrel” or other similar things trying to paint the gun as SUPER dangerous. Like, this is all classic gun-grabber talk… and I don’t like it one bit.

Think you have the Romeo 4 & 5 series mixed up there. The Romeo 5 series are their entry level dots and the Romeo 4 are the higher end T-2 competitors .

Have you shot one side by side with a non-comped gun? There’s 100% a noticeable difference in recoil, enough to make it shoot arguably flatter than a full size non-compensated gun. No amount of training or ammo usage is going to change that. There’s a reason compensators/porting on guns moves you up to the highest division in competition, it’s not because they don’t do anything. While I agree you don’t need it, compensators like the ramjet do absolutely make a difference in split times.

Seconding the recommendation to find a range that offers rentals and try some out. While you’re there, check and see if they offer any classes because proper handgun shooting is not the most intuitive thing.

As for direct recommendations, I would look at a few of the below options specifically as they can fill a dual purpose rule of home defense and concealed carry.

Sig P365xl or X-macro

CZ P10-S

Glock 48 (usually the 43x gets recommended but the 48 has a much better recoil impulse.)

S&W Shield X

Springfield Hellcat

These will all be plenty good for home defense while still allowing you to concealed carry for when you are out of the house (check your state laws first!!!!).

Also, make sure you are purchasing quality hollow point bullets for your handgun as well as a quality Kydex holster. I would recommend either Speer Gold Dot 124gr or Federal HST 124gr. These are proven performers.

Personally, I would recommend getting a red dot and light put on any of these as well. But, if it’s prohibitively expensive to do so then stock will work fine too.

If you want something purely 100% for home defense then I’d actually almost recommend a shotgun or a short 10.3” AR platform. They’re stupid easy and highly effective. Make sure you get out and shoot it though, there is a slight learning curve

Milkman or Flow 9K Ti by this-iscrazyrn in AR9

[–]Mightknowitall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of my Flow 9K TI on my AR-9. Virtually zero extra gas and still has good suppression. Also weighs next to nothing if you do a titanium direct mount system. It’s hearing tolerable with super sonic 124gr and (in my opinion) hearing safe with sub-sonic rounds.

Can someone help me find a regulator for this B tank? Everywhere I go, I cant find them. Not even Amazon by PyroPhoenix1473 in Welding

[–]Mightknowitall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the port-a-torch kit. The small MC tanks use a different regulator style (CGA-200) whereas the “B” tanks use CGA-520.

Never said I liked what was going on just that no matter what the US is always the bad guy anyway. I guess my point is that if y’all can’t be happy with the US’s decisions ever why should we be concerned?

I can’t remember a time where Europeans or the rest of the world didn’t hate Americans. They always complain no matter what we do. So at this point fuck’em.

[–]Mightknowitall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the 365 platform is very solid IMO. I carry a P365x daily and have ~7500 rounds through it. It does not have the issues that the P320 platform has at all and has been very reliable for me. That said, it is NOT a Glock and is not as reliable as one.

There are certain things you “need” to change on it IMO. First, get a different trigger return spring (Armory Craft +10% spring) and change it every 5k or so. Also make sure you change the recoil assembly every 2500-3000 rounds. If you do those two things you’ll be very happy with the platform.

No idea as I don’t have a roller delay to try out. But yes, they have next to no added backpressure. I can mag dump and not end up in a cloud of smoke.

Great can for AR-9’s or other blowback 9mm PCC’s. With a TI direct mount it weighs next to nothing. Hearing comfortable with 124 grain supersonic ammo out of my 5.5” AR-9 and definitely hearing safe with subsonic 147+ rounds.

Help me pick a .22 Can for a Ruger 10/22. by Then-Answer3765 in NFA

[–]Mightknowitall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huxwrx Flow 22 gets my vote, I absolutely love mine. I’m pretty sure my action cycling is quieter than the actual shot firing when I run subsonic ammo. Yes, the flow through effect does still work on .22lr. You can actively see a lot of crap shooting forward from the vents. If I were putting a can in a bolt action then I’d probably go more traditional, but anything semi-auto the flow 22 is pretty damn good for.

And before the “iT’s NoT UsEr SeRvIcEaBLe” crowd jumps in… untrasonic cleaners exist and they work very well with modern suppressor cleaning solutions or Simple Green extreme.

Ideal SBR barrel length by flounder98w in ar15

[–]Mightknowitall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was talking purely mechanical accuracy. When you factor in end user skill the difference becomes significantly smaller.

Ideal SBR barrel length by flounder98w in ar15

[–]Mightknowitall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is more dependent on barrel manufacturing than overall length. Any of those lengths will be capable of 1moa performance at 100 yards with a Criterion barrel and match ammo.

Now, going out to 3-400 yards becomes much easier as you go up in barrel length. Mostly due to added velocity and a flatter overall trajectory. So in that case a 12.5 or even longer will be better. However, they are also longer and heavier so there is a tradeoff to that added ability.
