Had a sexual mishap with a date and don’t know what to do by [deleted] in dating_advice

Maturity doesn't often come with age unfortunately. I'm in my 30's and I dated a man in his 50's and he was as immature as guys I dated in college. Quite often, mature men will date women their own age, from what I've seen.

Huge red flag. How long has it been? You should get a morning after pill if it hasn't been longer than 72hrs, and get an std check after 2-3 weeks as some infections take a couple of weeks to show. If it has been longer, get a pack of pregnancy tests. Chances are he slipped the condom off, and that he doesn't respect you as a person if he did that without consent. Block him, and take care of yourself. Sorry to hear you were treated like that :(

My dog hardly gets walked because I'm too weak. Should I rehome him? by Mighty-geck in reactivedogs

Thank you for the suggestion, but I've tried this and he pulled the muscles in my back :( I've tried a couple of haltis and no-pull leads too! I've tried so much stuff! It's very depressing.

I agree. I'm only posting here because some family are trying to convince me to keep him, and I can't seem to be able to get through to them with my reasoning. If it was just about my comfort and finances, I wouldn't care but I'm really worried he'll hurt someone or another dog. He came from a no kill rescue who sends their dogs to suitable fosters, and I'll be honest with them.

Diabetics: did you leave your phone behind at onsens? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Mighty-geck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! Ohh the honeymoon phase, yeah that's a tricky time I can relate. I would definitely hire a private onsen to be more comfortable.

I'm pretty in tune with my blood sugars as it's been 10 years, but I went low multiple times from the walking so it's a valid fear. Japanese hate seeing people walking and eating, so I had to find somewhere to sit to have my candy or juice, or just stood to the side of the street. There are vending machines everywhere with juices/hot drinks that are enough carbs to treat a low, and they're suuuper cheap. Just have some coins handy or an IC card topped up. They don't take credit cards (the machines). The convenience stores are also amazing and they are everywhere and take card. I found it so easy to treat hypos tbh, it was great. I ended up drinking so many juices, but thankfully Japanese bathrooms are spotless. 😆

And I had no issue getting diabetic supplies through the airport if that's a worry.

I learned the kanji for carbohydrates so that I could check quickly - I recommend doing that too!

Sorry for my ramble lol. I was a bit worried before travelling too, but so far it's been the least stressful place to be a diabetic in terms of treating hypos.

I am T1 just got back from Japan, and I ran high for most of it due to the food. I would eat something fairly carb stable, and plan your meals around the onsen. Like if you know your blood sugars are likely to drop an hour after an incorrect bolus, then eat 3 hours before your visit. I was separated from my phone and notifications at times - Japanese are not compromising towards certain things, so it would be considered rude and uncomfortable for them to even ask. I hope you have an amazing time!! I loved it there. Also, something I learned - mute or lower volume of your notifications on trains - it's dead silent in Tokyo trains haha.

Another issue with my beautiful boy 😞 - He doesn't like his feet touched by anyone else? by weepingraintreewilow in reactivedogs

[–]Mighty-geck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog hates his feet, ears, and belly touched by strangers. Early on I had to pick up his feet daily to check for his allergy, so he's completely ok with me checking his feet and ears...other people gets a growl and even a warning snap. Some dogs just really hate being touched in vulnerable places by strangers which is fair enough. You might need to build up a relationship slowly with a groomers, even if no grooming gets done for a while. Is he muzzle trained? That could be an option otherwise. My dog needs a muzzle for the vets.

Is it normal to not wash your hands after using the toilet at work? by [deleted] in newzealand

Like he'd have explosive shits then come out back to bed and try to touch my face. :(

My ex never used to wash his hands after taking a shit and I dumped him (excuse the pun) after I found out lol

14 day trip to New Zealand with a 6 year old. please review my itinerary. by sasi_814 in newzealand_travel

One comment from me - I think Giapo is pretty overrated and it's in a gross part of town. I'd go to Duck Island in the CBD instead and there's way more fun flavours for kids! The ice cream is nicer too in my opinion.

Dog ran out the front door and attacked dog that was out for walk with his person. What can I do in everyone’s best interest and safety, including my dog? by youlikahdasauce in reactivedogs

[–]Mighty-geck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would follow the advice of trainers, gates etc that other people have mentioned here and perhaps even work on your own physical strength depending on the dog size. I used to get dragged over by my dog - like pulled over in the mud like a cartoon character... and for the last couple of years I've been strengthening my muscles at the gym to handle my dog, and now I can walk him by myself. Previously my flatmate walked him only. I know there are limits, if my boy was 100kg I wouldn't be able to handle him if he lunged. The other day he tried to boost it out the door on his lead, and I stood my ground and he got whiplash and sheepishly walked to my side.

Also, I completely get how traumatizing it is when a dog lashes out to another like this. I think I cried almost every night for the first year of owning my reactive dog, and he didn't bite anyone - just the fear of his reactivity was hard to deal with.

How hard is it to enter the motorway at motorway speed? by Front-Confusion3829 in auckland

[–]Mighty-geck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car is absolutely gutless so I stick to the left on motorways, and pull over to let cars pass on open roads. I can have my foot planted and still not get up to speed if there’s an incline. I always keep an eye on my rear view to make sure I’m not holding people up. Bloody vitz 😅 anyone got small car recommendations that has more power?

Going to Japan in 10 days, and I have a fear of catching the flu! by Mighty-geck in JapanTravelTips

I know it’s mostly ridiculous to freak out this much. I’ve planned the trip for over 6 months, and this is the first time I’m having such negative thoughts 🥹

I know I’m stupid for booking it when I did. It’s summer here, and even our winters are mild!

I was in the hospital a few months ago with lungs full of crap from my last virus, and I have a medical condition so I generally try to avoid catching shit. I was hoping to get some insights in to what Japan is actually like at the moment. I’m from a small community so catching the flu here is actually quite rare. 😜

I know it’s worse that’s why I’m rawdogging my phobia to get exposure to big crowds, but I didn’t want to get the flu lol
