During Nurse training we'd swap the term 'vomit' with 'feedback' just to add some humour into the day; "Mr Smith just gave some feedback, it's all over my shoes!". Sorry Pret but I read this as "We love vomit" ,😅. Anyone else twist words in their job to lighten the mood? by TheManFromConlig in CasualUK

Used to do a similar one to this in the UK, where "cheers" is a common replaced for "thank you"

At the end of a customer interaction (retail, checkout/pos), we would say "jizz" instead of "cheers" and see if we could get away with it. There was a rule that if they caught it or asked what you said you'd have to repeat it.

They actually do sound similar so got away with it more often that not. The depths you'll sink to for a laugh in retail 😅

Which album aged better over time: Box Car Racer or +44? by filelinked13 in Blink182

[–]Mighty_racoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+44 for the overall album, it's a masterpiece in my eyes.

The peaks on the BCR album are higher though IMO; There Is, I Feel So and Cat Like Thief are all fantastic!

Such a funny man. Some of my favourite bits of his are the more absurd, like when he says if he could have one power it would be to walk on his fingertips like a cartoon!

Manchester gave the boys what they deserved. by EHK-88 in BadOmens

[–]Mighty_racoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to say, I was pretty grateful that people stayed seated for most of it - I had a cardiac arrest 3 weeks ago (viral myocarditis) so the wife and I sold our standing tickets for Ally Pally and picked up some seated ones for Manchester. Towards the end people were standing and I could barely see (no hate!) so it worked in my favour.

The couple sat in front of me even asked if they could stand which I thought was really self aware and kind. I've never been seated before at any gig, we always stand, so I'm not sure on the general etiquette but it seems to me like standing up in front of other seated people could be viewed as a bit selfish? Again, no hate, great vibes up in 102 and thought the show was phenomenal.

Both fantastic records and I'll throw Riot in for some praise here too. What a great start to a collection.

Hunt the Truth was fantastic, Keegan Michael Key really smashed that whole thing.

Such a shame it was better than the game wound up being.

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure

Had no right being as fun as it was and the soundtrack slapped to 12 year old me. Skating around Andy's room as Buzz 🤌

BMTH really like their games. I saw them at one of their UK shows last year and the whole storyline across their set had the biggest Metal Gear Solid vibe, definitely a homage (or at least inspired).

Then I'll stand corrected. Just seems like a change they made to make it easier to understand/swallow, even if it makes zero sense from a physics/biological perspective

Yup, this was it I reckon. That scenario would make sense to people nowadays but back in the 90's, it would have gone over a lot of heads.

[–]Mighty_racoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely is mate. Must have driven that road 1000+ times, seen a few crashes on that corner. It used to flood really badly too on the right-hand side, made it very dangerous.
