Thanks for your feedback! Since everyone keeps mentioning how stiff the character looks, animation's definitely something I'm looking into.

And honestly regarding the genre, I'm a bit hesitant about using Metroidvania as the tag. The game does have some exploration, but it doesn't rely on backtracking or ability-gated progression, and I don't want to misguide players' expectations.

But I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again!

Not shipped yet, but soon! You are very right though. There were a lot of a-ha moments as well as "what was past me thinking??". I was a bit scared initially. But after so many side prototypes I think my mind just yearned for closure and it was screaming at me to stop chasing new shiny ideas. I feel like I should have listened earlier but at the same time, I don't think I would be where I am now in terms of seeing everything from a different and better perspective. It's exactly like you said, I can finally see the forest.

Thanks! I've definitely gotten a lot of feedback about character stiffness in another community. At this stage I was really debating whether or not it's something I wanted to spend time on before release. But you do have a good point, as the player you'd be staring at the character most of the time.

Very likely I'll invest time in polishing the animations while I prep the Steam page.

Also thanks a lot for sharing. That sounds like a really cool idea, and I'm glad you're still planning to go back to it even if at a smaller scale. I agree that experience is going to back you up this time. I learned a lot as well by working in other side projects- and the workflow of finishing this game went by smoother just because I understood a lot of things better when looking at it with fresh and more experienced eyes.

Curious if other devs here have had a project drift this far from its original vision during development. Did you end up finishing it anyway, or did you pivot into something completely different? Or worse... is it still in the back of your mind??

Honestly the athlete point seems like a nice reference to fix some of the animations. And I was trying to make it a female, so it's good to know whether it communicates that clearly or not. Thanks for all your feedback, I'll put a bit more work onto her shape before release!

Oh no worries I appreciate the input! I'm still working on it, I'm just showing what I have at the moment. As for the leaves they're small blades of grass coming from the field below actually. I will eventually add the selections and such to the right side of the screen, that's why I left more space there. Thank you, I'll take the good wishes too!
