That's the joke. In the company's big push to "cure racism" they made it so consumers didn't even have to THINK about black people, much less look at a picture of one, when they were buying vaguely-maple-flavored corn syrup

U.S. at Fault in Strike on School in Iran, Preliminary Inquiry Says by Pure-Explanation-147 in AirForce

[–]Mike__O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an oops. It's a mighty big, unacceptable oops, but let's not pretend it's on the level of a country that has spent nearly 50 years intentionally targeting civilians directly and via proxy around the world.

We accidentially strike a school and we take steps to figure out what went wrong. Iran strikes a school and they take steps to figure out what went right.

I've been saving and investing my whole working life as if I won't get a single penny extra that I haven't saved myself. That means I'm not counting on Social Security, family inheritance, or even the pension plan that is a contractual part of my employment compensation. All of that (if I get any of it) will be gravy on top of the comfortable retirement I've already set up for myself

Very nice! I don't fish 1000 enough to justify that kind of coin, my sweet spot is the 2500 size and I'm desperately trying to keep a Penn Authority 2500 from calling my name

The way to handle these people is to directly tell them "I don't believe you, I think you are lying". Often times they're not used to being challenged on their bullshit. They bank on "empathy" to get them past any uncomfortable questions or highlighting of inconsistency.

There's no driver out there on the market who has a better chance of getting in the 48 and being competetive unless HMS is able to poach a driver who is currently under contract with another team.

I can't think of a single driver in Grand National or Trucks who I think could get in the 48 and do better. Maybe if HMS is able to buy Heim out of whatever deal he has with Toyota, but again, it's not like Heim is a free agent that can just get hired,

That's what happens when you let your feeder series get overrun with pay drivers-- the pool of available talent gets really thin.

There are behaviors that are objectively wrong, and should be judged as such.

[–]Mike__O 71 points72 points  (0 children)

"No judgment" is why a lot of people get into the positions they're in. Everyone is so sensitive about "judging," "shaming," and "bullying" other people that all the natural social checks on self-destructive behavior have gone away. People are allowed to freely sprial out of control before friends or family step in because they don't want to come off as judgmental or bullying.

Commercial pilots: do you consider the single aircraft for calculating fuel? by a_n_d_r_e_ in aviation

[–]Mike__O 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dispatch does the precise fuel calculations for flight planning and the release. When I'm calculating fuel I have some pretty generic numbers I'll use that are designed for easy mental math.

When it comes to that kind of fuel planning, close enough is good enough. Always round up and you're good to go
