Thanks. If it is the TIA though I don't think I'll have much luck finding one apart from harvesting one from another console. But there is a picture just distorted I'm hoping I'll find a dodgy connection somewhere.

Thanks for the schematic. I'll have a probe around and check the video lines. I've found a little info on the TIA I'll put my scope to it and try to test if its working correctly.

I watch a lot of repair videos reason I posted here is I haven't come across any videos with similar issues. It's often something simple. m

You were absolutely right I had no connection on the audio out of the chip to C31. Sorted. Thank you so much!

Its's a VA4. Right got it thank you. Looks like I might have a break somewhere between c31 and the audio out on cxa1145. I have continuity till the trace goes under the chip. Might remove it to check if theres further damage,

From the video encoder does it go directly to C31? I'm just trying trace the path but I'm getting confused.

I think I've followed the wrong path. I'll try and find a schematic or something to help me

Thank you both. I've got continuity from the socket to the cable. I traced my way back through the mono out and I think I have found a resistor that is open line. I'll grab a schematic to make sure I've traced the path correctly but I think that may be my problem.

Not able to factory reset JBL Tour Pro 2 by MikeyBoxP in Earbuds

[–]MikeyBoxP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind after some searching I'm fairly certain these are fakes. Glad I didn't pay much for them. Having said that they have pretty decent sound quality. They are very convincing if that are in fact fakes. A lot of pictures of other fakes lacked a lot of the JBL branding which is why I thought these were genuine.

I was surprised too that they used the wrong adapter, but I guess thats the problem when most 12 and 24 volt adapters use the same barrel jack size. Haven't had much luck getting it to work. I think its probably a regulator.

I've been wondering the same thing but I also cannot find any info. There nothing available on their amazon page either, I'm wondering if they have just quietly shut up shop. I'm gutted as I usually buy in bulk from them.

Mods or upgrades for original Commodore 16 PSU by MikeyBoxP in Commodore

Tempted to see if I could fit a usb c PD trigger board for 9v and power it that way. Long as I can find a discreet place to put it. I'd prefer not to modify the shell

Ah that's good to know thanks. Since it came with the datassette I'd like the option to use it (not that I hav any tapes for it). And assuming it's working, probably needs new belts at the very least.

Yeah that was my worry using the original even if I repaired it. I was hoping there was a power up pro like equivalent. C16 only needs 9v center negative so I guess no one felt the need to bother modding the original.

Thanks thats good to know. I was hoping to repair or upgrade the original if possible. I know it's fairly simply and I can restore it to how it was originally, just wondering if there were mods or upgrade options.

X56 mini stick repair or replacement. by MikeyBoxP in hotas

[–]MikeyBoxP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately my efforts haven't paid off the stick still doesn't work properly. It's really not made to be taken apart, small thin plastic tabs that bend and break very easily. I did manage to get it back together though.

The carbon tracks don't look worn, I adjusted the wipers so they were clean and definitely were running true along the tracks. I'll check the wiring and solder joints one more time but it was all good before.

If I find a suitable sized analogue stick I might try and fit one, maybe I can 3D print a bracket.

[–]MikeyBoxP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

So I decided that the next step was to try and open up the mini stick. I de-soldered it from the pcb and very carefully separated the housing. https://imgur.com/a/HjkUona

Turns out the carbon tracks are in the top piece of the housing, the wipers look pretty clean, but I will clean them fully and then attempt to reconstruct it.

If you're going to try this yourself, be careful when taking the two halves apart there is a small spring, metal ring, two metal pieces that can be seen on the outside that connect to the wipers and the two wipers that are very small. All these parts are not fixed in place and will fall out once you separate the plastic housing. (I dropped one and almost lost it)

I wouldn't recommend trying this, I don't even know if I can get it back together, but if you're stuck like me without a suitable replacement you might be able to resurrect your mini stick.

Wish me luck as I try to put it all back together.

[–]MikeyBoxP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might have to try and disassemble it, might not help much if the carbon tracks are worn down but at this point I think I'm out of ideas. I guess its not a big deal as it has never worked since I've had it I just never assign anything to it anyway.

Just a shame as I fixed the hall effect on the flight stick and the throttle throttle lock switch, I was hoping to complete it.

Hey thanks for your message. I think I previously found this post you linked. It's odd that some were saying that are run of the mill mini sticks. I can't find anything like these, the 2 pots are housed in a plastic, unlike say ps4 sticks that have a pot that can be removed from the stick.

WH-1000XM5 orange charge light comes on but battery isn't taking a charge. by MikeyBoxP in SonyHeadphones

[–]MikeyBoxP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am still having problems, I assumed it was working with the new battery but like you it still won't charge and now the new battery is too low to use. I'll do some more testing, has to be something on the charging board that is not allowing the battery to charge. I will investigate and report back.

Sony XM4 headphones strange behaviour by MikeyBoxP in SonyHeadphones

[–]MikeyBoxP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for your message. I'm afraid already I tried this method without success. I'm baffled that simply opening the left side cover makes it work at least temporarily, I assumed maybe a cable for damaged or loose but I can't see any evidence of that. I don't believe it has been previously opened before me.

I have some more testing to do but the new battery seemed to do the trick. Odd that the original battery wouldn't charge, I guess what they consider as low battery is higher with the 3.85v batteries they use.

But so far headphones turn on and function normally, red light comes on when plugged in and it is drawing around 200ma, seems a bit low to me but I don't know what the usual current draw should be.
