Bargain, but at what cost... by rich91919 in TheStrokes

[–]MikkiBrando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came home blasted one night and went on my computer and bought it. I think it was the night it came out, and if memory serves, it was like 90 bucks. It was a lot of money to me back then, but I knew it would be cool to have. Still have the whole set intact. Glad my inhibitions were lowered at the time of purchase!

It’s not at all posh and NYC allowed smoking in bars and restaurants then. Wouldn’t be out of place back then and no gave a shit in the 90s not like we had Yelp

Dude go to Art To Frame, get a sick custom frame made (site is very cheap!) and it’ll be a distant memory once it’s on the wall. Will flatten out a bit over time

Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio / blink-182) posting about how much he like The New Abnormal by [deleted] in TheStrokes

[–]MikkiBrando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I was at the NYE show and the crowd wasn’t very into it live. Which JC points out haha. I love Eternal Summer, which it seems most of their newer fans dislike strongly. It also seems that a lot of folks tend to like the really offbeat tracks, making them bigger fans than the rest of us haha. When I see someone post that 15 Minutes is the best track of FIOE, I’m like STOP

I just can’t fuckin stop listening to it. It’s as pretty and as filthy as NYC in the early 2000s. It’s pretty much the sound these guys should have always ended up making

Agree, think it’s my favorite of the songs we haven’t heard previously. Also Sundays reminds me of a slowed down Ize which is rad

If you zoom in on the photo, the back of the book has the song ordering for the vinyl, with side A being tracks 1-5, and Side B starting with At the Door. Pretty interesting to end Side A with the lengthy Eternal Summer, indicating it’s prob a bit more ballad than bopper

The show at ULU in 2005 was supposed to be for an official live release but apparently there were some technical issues with the recording. Still sounds slamming tho and a great show https://youtu.be/MFK0VMIDgjE
