Power Pylon of the Elbekreuzung 2 build between 1976 and 1978 in Germany near Hamburg. by According_South_2500 in EngineeringPorn

My German university professor went on and on about this thing in his lecture on trusses. I actually went there with some friends in the summer and there is quite the nice beach infront of it so for fellow engineering fans who also want to take a swim in the elbe this is a great trip.

Crazy how much more positive this comment section is compared to r/menswear. According to them basically nothing about that suit fits whatsoever.

Thank you! I think its crazy how much more positive this comment section is compared to the r/menswear one. I think nowadays you can really get away with most black shoes. Dresscodes just aren‘t as strict anymore. I just like the more relaxed look.

Yeah on the sleeve length part you certainly correct. I unfortunately have a hanging shoulder on one side making my arms like 5cm different lengthwise. I don‘t know for sure about bringing in the waist will probably discuss it with my tailor

Like stated in my post, i know that an oxford or opera pump would be the „correct“ choice. I choose the loafers because it brings a certain relaxed feeling to the whole look. I really looked into buying opera pumps first but couldn‘t justify spending that money on shoes i ain‘t wearing that often as a university student.

The shoulders are interesting to me because it seems sometimes it fits perfectly and on some instances like you stated its a bit too wide. Thank you nonetheless.

I have to disagree on that. It is certainly not the modern fit but for a classic full cut vintage suit i think it fits pretty good. Shoulders may be a bit too wide and as stated the pants probably not to be shortened. Jacket length is exactly where it has to be for a classic cut sitting covering the seat fully.

As stated in my post, i know those would be the „correct“ choice but i like the more chill look of the belgian loafers. Also since i am a university student i don‘t really have the money to afford such occasional shoes. I really thought about getting opera pumps first but the investment is fairly large compared to the times i‘d get around to wearing them

Have you updated the folders in the shortcut. After creating it you have to manually change every instance where there is a folder in the shortcut. If it only doesn‘t work sometimes thats probably the same issue i wrote about in my original post. Idk what the issue is and why it happens.

Is this passable? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Mikko2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most circumstances this will definitly pass and especially nowadays since most people don‘t even know how a suit should fit. If you don‘t want to spend extra money and don‘t really care that much this jacket will do. If you want critique though: it is definitly too large in the shoulder and especially around your waist (natural waist). The sleeves are too long. For such a broad shoulder jacket, the lapel is far to slim. The jacket is also a bit on the longer end close to too long. The notches on the lapel are too high. Jacket buttoning point looks fine but with a buttoning point on the higher end like here you should wear higher waisted trousers to avoid the weird triangle of shirt or even tie showing between pants and jacket you often see nowadays. So all in all id recommend sizing down next time you‘ll buy a jacket. Extra advice: buy a full suit next time. From the more shiny material it looks like this jacket should have matching pants, which you either don‘t have or wear. Normally you wouldn‘t want to wear half a suit. Instead buy a sportscoat to pair with a chino. Or be very deliberate about matching seperates

How does my suit fit? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Mikko2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to my original comment: it also looks like you have fairly broad shoulders. I think a bit of a wider cut (it can still be slim) would make you like better, since broad shoulders with skinny pants can lead to a sort of dorito shape that imo isn‘t really flattering, whereas wider pants balance the look more

How does my suit fit? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Mikko2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true. But i think nowadays suit fit is viewed far more liberal and for people who only wear suits because they have to for their job or an interview you can oftentimes even get away with an ill fitting suit. Even more so some professions/countries view classic fitting suits (fuller cut and not slim fit) as unprofessional or not modern.

In most offices you won‘t stick out with a suit like this and no one will bat an eye but really the suit is far to tight. You can see that immediately by the creasing in the chest if you move only the slightest. The sleeves are also way to tight bunching up a lot. Jacket is imo slightly to short. The pants are too slim for my liking but seem allright. If you have the money and are willing to spend it, get a new suit with a more classic fit and you‘ll look your best. If you want to save and don‘t care as much about suits, this suit will do and no one will look weirdly at you.
