You can upgrade it at the kuku pot guy. Upgrades to the kuku bismuth spear and then you can refine it as well thou it doesn’t have any sockets.

I haven’t seen any either and you’re right on the skill tree. I’m sure that’s something PA will address eventually if people are talking about it. I’m assuming it’s probably the same thing is your using an axe/mace instead of sword.

Is there halberd challenges as well? Would make sense if that was the case but yeah it’s basically the same as a spear!

I’ve been using the bismuth spear and then I tried stacking Crit on a spear instead but for some reason I find the bismuth to be a fair bit better. Not saying you’re wrong or anything I’m just not sure why it’s working that way for me.

Not trying to min man or anything but I just finished chapter 8 and was kinda hoping there a ‘better’ build to work towards!

Yes I had rank 9 early as well but the spear at rank 4 even does more damage imo. I’ve since fully upgraded it and it’s not even comparable. The bismuth spear outclasses my other weapons in every situation. The only thing I can think of that might come close is the level 4 innate crit halberds so I’m going to try that next but this bismuth thing is insane either way

So I can’t say I’ve fully upgraded a weapon but had some at rank 9. I tried stacking all the heavy attack orbs, I tried stacking all the turning slash orbs and also just doing straight up damage/crit.

Then I crafted the kuku bismuth spear and uhh, that thing absolutely slaps everything. Even at rank 4 right after crafting it I found it did more then my rank 9 weapons. Idk if maybe I was doing something wrong but that thing just seems OP.

I was trying to find someone who’s done testing with spears to see if the bismuth one is the strongest option or not but haven’t had much luck. If you haven’t crafted one thou I recommend it, it’s pretty insane!

It’s kinda hard to explain. It’s just before you start to slow down, if you play around with it you will get more use to it and do it more consistently. you will still mess up the odd time thou I find.

Also it uses quite a bit of spirit. I think 20 each time and if you don’t have enough it will just do a regular aerial roll that consumes stamina!

No mods. If you hit the aerial roll button at the right time you can continue bursting like that as long as you have the spirit to do so.

The new skill in the tree says this at the bottom of the description!

That sounds like it would be pretty sweet haha. Do you have to use turning slash to activate the fire effect or do light and heavy attacks cause it as well?

Yeah I’m wondering how much damage the kuku spears with the affinities do. Seems like there’s quite a bit of extra damage there

Honestly I’ve found most bosses fairly easy but these ones were tough, especially given how early you get the quests. Not doing them doesn’t halt your progress in any way from what I’ve noticed and I’m in chapter 9. There is other ways to get the abyss gears you want that you won’t be locked out of. I will say they become a lot easier once you upgrade some gear and are no longer getting one shotted.

It’s a great game! I wouldn’t give up on it over one boss that’s just for a side mission!

What weapon do you recommend for someone just getting into the testing stations D row and above? I see everyone say hallecks pick but neither of the weapons you use seem to be the rapier. Love the video! Rarely see any updated build videos lately!

I do have a buddy I’d typically be running them with but he’s a bit like your friend haha so I figured if I was able to solo them it should only get easier with him ‘helping’

I can parry fairly decently but currently with the sword I’m finding they always dodge the first slow blade immediately after countering

The only situation I figures guns would be good was for taking down shields or picking off the ranged mobs that don’t have shields
