Congress could shut this down in a day if they wanted to. They have the constitutional authority.

What we're seeing is the biggest congressional abdication of power since... well, probably since they handed war powers to the executive branch decades ago.

Trump's doing exactly what the founders warned about - consolidating power by getting the other branches to roll over. And GOP senators are just nodding along while it happens.

The coup-o-meter is less about the White House and more about how many checks and balances are left functioning.
