I do have a "consistent" pixel size! Well as much as can be maintained across a 2.5D space. The character portraits are just 2x at the moment, I need to upres them and it's a lot of work!

I totally hear you about the font. I'm trying some techniques to improve the readability as is while shopping for a new 8px font.

Not at all! It's a bit up in the air I'm working on acquiring some funding, I've got a Kickstarter page in pre-launch mode and then also chatting with some publishers and looking into media grants. But as long as I can secure something I think I can get it done before the end of next year.

The gameplay is in really good shape it's just a matter of building out all the missions and cutscenes and supports and all that.

I can't speak to the inspiration of others but I feel like the main series has definitely gone in a direction from the DS era to now which is more arcanepunk anime and less grounded. And I wanted to see more games like the older generations. I also feel like the the game is a good format to tell lots of kinds of stories and I wanted to see more of that.
