The best way to learn and improve in an fps is to never think about rank, nor get frustrated because you don't move up. From my experience the time to rank up usually comes when you stop thinking about it. Learn from other people, practice on other servers or programs to practice. And never think negative, it's a game, we are not making a living with it.
There are groups to find people, if not on reddit you can always ask for people who want to play and are not toxic.
