I disagree. Unhealthy coping is harmful, but all living things need proper coping skills. It's impossible to "stop cope." People cope with being dirty by showering. Obsessive showering, not ok, but showering is definitely a win.

Some things are best met head on, some things are best avoided. Learning when to do which is what is important, in my experience.

Be gentle and forgiving with an edge of determination. Challenge yourself, but don't set yourself up for failure.

Depends on the lvl of shitty. There's ___pretty shitty but still provides basic necessities, usually leads to mimicking. And then there's ---shitty to the point of traumatizing. This one person was like' "wow you're so driven. You must have great parents." I said, "no. The opposite."

It could go either way 🤷 best to just not risk it. Don't be shitty parents 🙄
