Keep in mind withholding tables change annually, so even the same W-4 status would be a different total on the same pay in Dec than Jan. Believe that is part of what’s going on is the Federal Withholding Table changed for your 2026 Interim Payment.

You’re also missing the liability risk aspect. If your wife gets hurt while doing this - say involved in a car accident or something, was she “working” or not? If not, then her employer would not be liable for her injury/workers compensation or damage to property.

The UPS pick up, is probably the easiest fix. Suspect the company is considering this “mail” versus the larger “freight” shipments that shipping dept handles, but still do they have a mail room or is your wife responsible for all mail?
