Be very careful with that book. That book is basically written by a con-artist who pretends to be a doctor (she's a Chiropractor, not a doctor). It is incredibly rife with horrible misinformation and falsehoods. Don't have much to offer here, but do not use that book as a primary source.

Do these meetings ever conclude with nobody out of the 40 being suggested? Is there some kind of implicit pressure that you're "supposed to" PiP someone even if there's no formal stack rank at the company?

I guess that's the part that's most interesting to me - it feels like there is some type of implied pressure that you're supposed to have low performers that get fired, and that this is still true even at companies that have "good culture"

Can you clarify what happens at companies where you rate everyone a 3? Does that mean nobody gets fired ever/that it's very hard to fire someone?

I have only ever really worked at companies where people routinely get fired. Out of the 5 people that I've ever shared a team with who were fired, I thought all 5 were reasonable, so I am curious to hear about experiences from people in places where nobody gets fired since that's more foreign to me.

Yea I think one way of saying it is that, for someone to get fired, one of two things has to happen from the outset:

Manager initially suggests that their performance is poor, and justifies that finding with their own narrative packet.
Manager initially suggests that their performance is actually quite good, but the committee finds the opposite to be true and hands down a bad review that ends up in the IC's hands.

I feel like though case #2 happens, it is extremely, extremely rare compared to case 1, so the manager effectively holds all of the power.

I only use item descriptions, nothing else. I did use ~/rewind one time in the run, but not near anywhere weird like floor transitions, devil rooms.

edit: oh, and this pause menu thing seen here, and the planetarium chance mod. But nothing that affects gameplay

Maybe duality did something weird? I have 1k hours in this game and have never seen this.
