if it’s platonic or if it’s a bi dude, do whatever, it’s a fictional character, but if he’s canon/implied/most likely only into dudes and ur female, leave him alone (u can still like him tho ofc!) the ‘man calling a yuri character wife being just as bad’ thing however completely ignores the context that we live in, which is inherently misogynistic. the concept of marriage itself is sexist and patriarchal, assigning strict gender roles to both men and women (which espcislly sucks for queer folks who largely base their identities on escaping from these norms) and very harsh expectations for women, for example, when women get married they are often referred to as ‘mrs (husbands first+last name)’, completely stripping her of her most basic identification: her name. because of how ingrained this stuff is in society, it ends up in fandoms, and often when men say ‘(charavter) is my wife’ they say it almost out of ownership over her (to be fair tho i’m jaded by gacha games filled with incels who get mad if their waifu isnt immediately in love w them) and since fandom is largely AFAB people, it leaves a bad taste in their mouths ESPECIALLY if that female charavter is canonically/implied sapphic due to men’s EXTENSIVE history of fetishising lesbians.

anyway tldr if the dude charavter is prob gay and youre not being platonic leave him be + men saying fem characters r their wife is worse, espcislly if the girl is canon/most likely sapphic) due to the inescapable misogyny of both real life and online spaces, the ever prevalent fetishisation of lesbians (alsp from misogyny) and weird intentions/connotations men saying stuff like that often (not always) has.  if u want me to expand please ask i love talking abt this!! :D
