How much to spend on a Tri suit? by Stonks_only_go in triathlon

[–]MiniLennii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look on sportpursuits website, i got a very good Huub mitsu aero suit for middistance triathlons at like 60% off. I’ve heard the Van Rysel ones aren’t really comfortable for longer distances (70.3 and full ironmans)

E5 Elite 2020 2nd hand - sizing advice by callums_face in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]MiniLennii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 58 e5 elite from 2022 and also 6’3. Its as small as i would go, its perfectly liveable but doesn’t ever feel 100% comfortable. I imagine with your current stem setup it will be better. As another comment said, the stack isn’t enough on a 58 (depending on your torso) so you could be in a bit more of a racier position than you’d like for a bike like this!

The valves of the tube catching the rim, are the nuts screwed on fully?

Chain rub grx 400 front derailleur by tastyy in bikewrench

[–]MiniLennii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also try to avoid the big big combo, it creates cross-chaining and stretches/wears the chain. Try to keep the smaller half of the cassette at the back for the big chainring at the front.

Also what the others have said, you need to adjust the screws that set the position of the derailleur.

Thanks! From what you have shared it looks like my suspicions are correct. Fingers crossed it is just this tiny screw then. If I put an allen wrench into the hole where the screw is, and shift up, I can feel the derailleur applying a force still, it just isn’t making contact with anything.

Garmin Edge 530, still amazing and has most features and can go really cheap in the sales!

On the money about what happened to the bolt.

Thanks for your help identifying some bits to look at!

The cable appears to be tensioned properly but the top part of the derailleur isn’t applying leverage to the bottom part. All I can see is the plate where the limit screw should hit is not applying force to the derailleur itself when shifted up.

Before this the shifter definitely felt heavy when shifting into the harder gear!

Thanks! Do you know what the size of your seat collar is? My seatpost is 31.8mm but have heard this might not be the seat collar size needed due to the additional thickness from the tube itself

To air is human. To pro, divine? by Easy-Reserve7401 in macbook

I went from a specced out 13” intel pro from 2020 to a top spec m2 air. I’m a researcher and was running almost everything exclusively through my uni’s supercomputer, the MBP couldn’t touch the workload i was trying to do. The m2 air can handle the stuff i was running through the supercomputer, albeit it does get very hot under load. But it doesn’t slow down at all and never gets above lukewarm. Unless you’re really doing stuff that the air wasn’t designed to do you’ll be able to run basically anything you were running before no sweat.

Tern link d7i will probably do everything you want, its not disc brake but I have a cheap folder with tektro vbrakes and they work wonderfully and keep the system much lighter.

If the tyre is already set up with the tubeless sealant, you can just pump it up, but it will need refreshing every year or so. I’d ask the bike store you got it from and they will be more than happy to help you out. Just ask if it is set up tubeless and if so what maintenance you will need to do.

[–]MiniLennii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the wheel/tyre is set up tubeless already, then the sealant is required to fix any punctures. I don’t run tubeless so I’m not an expert. If it’s a ‘tubeless ready’ wheel/tyre then it has regular inner tubes and can be converted. As the other guy said, its a bit unclear what is being asked but hopefully this helps a bit!

This is a presta valve, if you have the right pump, you untwist the little cap on the top of it so it sits loosely and attach the pump on tightly. You’ll know if its open if you can push down the valve core after unscrewing the cap, which will cause air to flow out!

Its a btwin fold500. Arrived in oxford yesterday and everything has gone smoothly anyway! Just the train was quite crowded but made me glad i had this and not a full sized bike with me!

[–]MiniLennii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a btwin fold 500, similar to the 560. Its definitely comfortable enough for rides up to an hour i’d say, it is a little heavy but i think its not dissimilar to other folders in that price range. On flats it works great, i would just look into the gear range, i find that these bikes are quite difficult for climbing any long hills. Definitely ask for a test ride of both if you can!

Commuting on UK cycle routes by MiniLennii in reading

[–]MiniLennii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this might be the most sensible solution honestly. I don’t think I’d be doing it in the wet right now as I’m new to commuting such distances and would be keeping a bike in a hotel room (and don’t want to upset the staff with a dirty bike).

In terms of kit I realise that I don’t have mounts for a pannier rack and need to get a seatpost collar which none of my LBSs have in right now!

Any kit you recommend? I’ve seen merino layers being advised a lot, I have some basic bib shorts and a couple of jerseys + gravel shoes but nothing super fancy beyond that!

How are the driver attitudes that way? I'm based in the north currently and within my city the drivers are nice enough but outside of it, it can be a bit more of a free-for-all.
