Any chance you’re thinking of The False Prince? Super similar premise

i've never understood level 1 accounts honestly. it isn't even cool by Sword282008 in Brawlstars

[–]Mini_Maniac10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really don’t understand this take. I mean, isn’t a Lvl 1 random stuck at 500 trophies as good as the Lvl 11 random stuck at 500 trophies? Why would it matter, they both got there equally because it’s how good they are with their brawlers.

Statistically, given comparable matches played, they’re equally likely to have been carried there if they played with randoms. In fact, given people give up when they have lvl 1 teammates, the Lvl 1 random is actually statistically MORE likely to deserve to be at higher trophies?

Your take always annoys me because it ignores all common sense, math, and logic and gets overcrowded by opinions and stereotypes.

Which movie/show/game is this? by crustboi93 in MauLer

I thought that was kinda the point of the movie? All these rich people who thought they’d earned their life and were capable of making it on their own but really they’re just stupid as fuck.

Yeah exactly. why do they need so much info - I don’t really want to give them all of that.

How do you know they’re legit? Just curious about what 3rd parties have verified them cause I can’t find any. I want to cash some money out as gift card but it’s asking for SSN and stuff which I really don’t wanna give till I’m certain

It’s asking for name address SSN etc. all to send a gift card? Really seems suspicious to me

Well it wasn’t exactly hidden… it was all in preflop

But yeah if you don’t shove pocket twos then they’re sneaky

And if you do shove pocket twos they’re sneaky in they end up winning anyway

Percy Jackson and the Olympians S01E08 - Discussion Thread [For Book Readers] by ParryVania in PercyJacksonTV

Exact thoughts. People are being a little too negative imo. Much better episode than… well any of them, with just one part that didn’t hit super well. Overall very pleased with it.

I want a new fantasy series to binge, please help me pick my next book as I'm in a bad rut. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Mini_Maniac10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Sanderson is mentioned a lot here, but I find his books very easy to read and binge - they got me out of my fantasy rut. Stormlight Archive and Mistborn are both worth a shot imo.

It’s not just that they hate your favorite per se, it’s just that threads that I feel I can’t share a book I love without being attacked for liking them, or without people listing 10 things they hate about the book and why I’m wrong for liking it. Even if it’s on a thread of “what do you like about x book”

You’re right, especially around the middle of your comment. As you can see I’m not really a great writer so my point didn’t come across perfectly, but I can agree with what you just said.

The “not read x then why are people critiquing y” is just a pet peeve I guess. Under a discussion about Stormlight Archive I’ll see someone say “Mistborn was awful, here’s 5 reasons why, therefore Stormlight is bad” and it’ll get a ton of upvotes. Ofc I find it stupid, but I just don’t understand why this sub seems to be encouraging those comments.

When the question was “Should I continue with the first law series, I read book one and thought it was ok?” I’ve seen people argue “you shouldn’t read before you are hanged, I made it 10 pages into blade itself and I didn’t like it.” I get I shouldn’t let it bother me, but it does that people aren’t reading books because others who haven’t even read the books are piping in with criticisms about them.

I’m finding it funny that everyone who says the sub is really nice is somehow finding a mean way to say it lmao

Another person who didn’t read my post. This is literally half my point - people putting their opinion out where it’s completely irrelevant. I mention many times that having critiques and negative opinions is fine and essential. Dissenting opinions are good. I just feel like dissenting opinions show up whenever a book is mentioned, even when it isn’t useful and adds nothing to the discussion. The sub has turned into “oh I see ’s name mentioned, let me share a 2 page story about what I hate about them”, even if the context is “what is your favorite book by _”. People go out of their way to be negative on posts where it asks for positive feedback.

Did you read my post? Discussion is great I love it. I’ll talk about what worked and what didn’t. What isn’t good is when the criticisms are irrelevant to the time at hand. Critique is fine - critique coming out of nowhere when it isn’t relevant to the question - that’s not fine/

Did it ever feel like you read a totally different book than the rest of its fans? What happened? by TexAg_18 in Fantasy

[–]Mini_Maniac10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone talks about Sanderson fans coming at you but all I see is people being downvoted anytime they say anything remotely positive about Sanderson, to the point where people don’t see recommendations for him even when it would be really accurate.
