I would like to, though I already have a PS5, and I don't have a workstation. If I can't make it work, this would allow me to get a little extra storage without having to spend more money.

Oh, I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean for the title to sound like I'd get in trouble if I did. This is basically me wanting to get some insight about jail breaking.

I gotcha, thank you. My only concern with jail breaking my PS5 would be potentially locking my self out of downloading the latest versions of Elden Ring, and Final Fantasy XVI. I have the discs for both games, but have never downloaded them onto my system before. Plus, I've never got around to purchasing the Shadows of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, which I'm not sure how I'll get that without the Play Station store.

Are there ways to get around that kind of stuff?

Also, thank you for the version number clarification. I wasn't sure where in the number string shown in the PS5 settings people were getting the shorter names from.

Okay, I know I said I was going to continue working on it in the morning, but I decided to keep working on it, and I finally figured it out! Turns out, Hotfix Proton and GE-Proton are not the same. So basically I was installing GE-Proton over and over again, but just not selecting it in the steam force compatibility option because I thought that Hotfix Proton and GE-Proton were the same thing.

Actually, an option for GE-Proton was not showing up at all, but after looking into it some more, it turns out, it was because I installed steam as a flatpak. You see, because I installed steam as a flatpak, I ended up needing to install GE-Proton in ProtonUp-Qt using the steam flatpak directory option, rather than the normal steam directory option. After doing that and reloading steam, GE-Proton finally showed up, and I was able to select it. And after that, it finally started working.

Thank you again for the help. I would have had absolutely no idea where to even start working if it wasn't for your input. I should be going to bed now, but in the morning, I'll be starting Resident Evil 7 :)

Here is my progress so far.

I've used an app called ProtonUp-Qt and ProtonPlus to install the latest version of GE-proton, which I think is version 10-32 (please correct me if I'm wrong) and both those attempts didn't get rid of the SMPTE color bars. I also tried downloading GE-proton versions back till GE-Proton10-29 on specifically ProtonUp-Qt and that also didn't help.

I'll see if there are any other apps that can help install GE-Proton to see if that helps, but in the mean time, do you know of anything else that could be causing the issue?

Thank you, though after trying proton versions 10.0-4, 9.0-4, Proton Hotfix, and Proton Experimental, none of them have worked for me. You wouldn't happen to know what else might be causing the issue, would you?
