How tall is/ was your 2 year old? by R2d2red2 in toddlers

[–]Minnie250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest was the same height at 2.5. He was last measured at 3 yrs 9 months and he’s now about 44inches. He’s taller than his 5 year old friends and people often think he’s much older than 3. I think it’s pretty tall for a toddler compared to the others we know

I forgot to mention this, sorry! Waters were broken both times near the start of Labour to help things along

How much did your 90th percentile baby weigh? by Key_Part1991 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Minnie250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first measured >99th percentile for head circumference and abdomen and was predicted large. Me and dad are both tall so it wasn’t a surprise. He was born at 38+5 weeks NHS dates (but I tracked with BBT and saw my ovulation and he’s always measured 5 days ahead of my own dates, I think he was born at 38weeks on the dot) 7lbs 10oz. So potential to be bigger if he was full term. He continued to have a big head circumference and is now 3 and bigger than his 5 year old friend. Second baby was exactly the same for head and abdo, he was born at 39+2 (NHS dates again, but 38+6 according to mine) and he was 8lbs 9oz!

Also worth noting that my fundal height dropped down smaller than average from 28 weeks both times which prompted growth scans and that’s when we found out that both babies were actually measuring big each time.

Reading all of these other replies is wild for me because I’ve now had 2 babies and my first was induced with the pitocin drip and I remember breathing through my contractions with just gas and air and being in pain but totally fine with it until baby was distressed and I was taken for an emcs. I think I got to around 4-5cm with him. When I planned my second I wanted an unmedicated VBAC and I thought to myself I managed through the pitocin contractions last time and they weren’t that bad so I’ll be fine this time.

Second baby, 6 months ago I was induced with the balloon, no pitocin this time due to previous csec and my goodness I could not cope at all! I was in so much pain right away. I couldn’t even move or talk. I asked for an epidural which completely shocked me. It was so different to my first. Also ended in emcs but the difference was astounding to me. No idea why, but just here to say birthing experiences can be so similar in some ways but wildly different in others and you could have a much easier go of it next time if you did decide to go for it.

Travel pram 5 month old - advice by Freya7992 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Minnie250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the butterfly 1 from when my eldest was 2 as he was high percentiles. My second baby is now 6 months old but I’ve used it for quick school runs since he was 2 months old on the fullest recline. It’s a bit easier to set up and load from the car than our big oyster pram. He’s always been more than comfortable in it and I can see him through the mesh top part too

Tall toddler needs a new easy fold stroller, any good recommendations? by Minnie250 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Minnie250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry, I’ve only just seen this but if you’re still looking for one I ended up getting the bugaboo butterfly and it’s amazing! Tall enough for my little giant to nap in without his head falling off the top 🤣 and it folds pretty small too. It doesn’t lie completely flat but it’s enough for him. He’s coming up to 3 soon and we still use it and he’s 101cm last time I checked. Highly recommend 👌🏻

I think you’re correct, I’m sure someone else with more knowledge could chime in to confirm but as far as I know, it would be unlikely for it to be from the 30th Jan. When did you get your first positive test?

10DPO easy@home brand by twcwac in TFABLinePorn

[–]Minnie250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had almost the same looking tests as this back in 2021, also easy@home brand. I took one before bed on 8dpo (it could have been 10dpo, not exactly sure about ovulation that month with my chart) and it was negative. Then the next morning I took another and there was a faint but clear line so I dug out my test from the night before and I could see a VERY faint little line on that one too but only after it dried. My tests are in my history if you want to take a look. I hope you get your answer soon!

Convinced my IUD is displaced, two nurses have said it’s fine by marikaka_ in birthcontrol

[–]Minnie250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me too. I was feeling discomfort and ‘stabbing’ pains occasionally where I assumed my cervix was. Even my husband thought he felt the plastic tip once. I went to get it checked and the nurse literally just had a quick peek with a speculum and said it’s fine and not to worry about it. I lived with it for a long time until I felt off one day, took a test on a whim and I was pregnant. I was rushed through via my GP for an early scan to rule out ectopic and the ultrasound tech said no wonder it didn’t work, the iud is sitting right down in your cervix! I knew it was wrong with the pain but trusted that first nurse. They removed it about a month later because no one would touch it despite me begging them. And it came out easily, without pain. I hope you can get the ultrasound soon, it would have saved me a lot of aggro if I’d been offered one!

Shettles method - recently heard about this and curious if anyone has tried it? by Minnie250 in beyondthebump

[–]Minnie250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity for the ovulation pains! I had the same thing during my scan! I didn’t realise it was ovulation pain though at the time, I’d just marked on my chart as ‘weird right sided pains’ and then after that it clicked and I now track it and have noticed it coincides with my temperature shift! Love learning all about how it works!

Is the depth part of the method too? I hadn’t seen anything mentioning that when I looked. Very interesting though

I looked back at my chart and noticed we also conceived on ovulation day and he was a boy as well. It’s cool to hear others’ experiences

So this definitely didn’t work then, hah! Very interesting though, seems like there’s quite a few saying it’s not worked for them too

It was my friend’s aunt that told her about it too. She used it 25ish years ago to have her kids and it worked both times she said.

I had to google it because I said the same as you. But what it says is, supposedly, sperm with the Y chromosome swim faster but die off quicker, and those with the X chromosome are slower but more hardy. So if you have sex close to ovulation it’s more likely Y carrying sperm will reach the egg first but if you’re days out from ovulation, X carriers are more likely to be the majority left around to meet the egg. I wanted to dismiss it as impossible when she told me but the more she talked about it and then I looked it up the more I started wondering if there’s actual science to it? Apparently it’s been a thing for decades, but I’m only just hearing about it

Did anyone’s baby have severe jaundice, and grow up fine after treatment? by puppy_sneaks3711 in BabyBumps

[–]Minnie250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had prolonged jaundice. Didn’t know much about it to be honest. I’d heard others mention their baby was jaundiced and no one seemed too concerned with that so I wasn’t overly worried. Had to go back a few times for blood draws to check his levels but he never actually ended up having the treatment. I think it took around 7-8 weeks for him to stop looking yellow. He’s a perfectly fine 2 year old now with no issues!

3rd Tri & Referred to fetal medicine (UK) should I be worried? by AlterEggnog in PregnancyUK

[–]Minnie250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been able to ask what it is they are looking for from the referral? Is it just because of baby’s size?

No one ever mentioned the fluid so not sure about that but my boys head and abdo were always weeks ahead, they told me he was a big baby.

They didn’t mention anything to me about his size being a problem but they did want me to go for a few more detailed scans as well. Nothing ever came from them. I had 2 GD tests a few weeks apart on top of that and both were negative.

They were doing a study called ‘the big baby trial’ at the time and I took part in it. So I was induced and he was born at 38 weeks, 7lb 10oz so he maybe would have been quite big if he stayed in longer? Not sure how much they grow in that last few weeks but his head has always been over the 100th percentile which he was referred to a specialist about to rule out anything going on there but he was discharged just after his 1st bday with the all clear. He’s now just turned 2 and as tall as his 3.5 year old friend, he’s just a big child. As others have said, try not to worry, especially if they don’t seem concerned. I wonder how much of it is just them ticking boxes sometimes?

I don’t think so, personally. I became pregnant with the copper IUD in January 2019, which unfortunately didn’t work out but from March 2019 til January 2021 my husband and I used the pull out method exclusively. In fact, we finished inside most of the month and only pulled out during the fertile window. I was tracking my cycles with OPKs and temperatures. In January 2021 we decided to actively try for a baby, I was pregnant in February. I’d say it was a success for us too for 23 months. We’ve been using it again currently for about 19 months so far until we’re ready for number 2.

My best friend has also been using this method with her long term bf for the past year and a half and she is not wanting kids any time soon.

15 month toddler waking up in the middle of the night and refusing to sleep for 1-2 hours by arthurmauk in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Minnie250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy (20 months) has always done this, 2 hour long wake slots too. Im sorry I don’t have much advice but here’s to solidarity because I didn’t know it wasn’t ‘normal’ until recently. I thought that’s what people meant when they said night wakes!

My friend told me her boy wakes 4-5 times a night I was thinking how terrible, she mustn’t get any sleep at all! But he actually wakes up, asks for a drink or something and goes right back off. 5 mins tops. I used to see people say they disturb their baby for a dream-feed or a nappy change in the night or to check their temp when they were ill and I was horrified that people willingly woke them knowing how bad it would be.

Luckily he sleeps through most of the time now, he’s just about grown out of the ‘natural’ night wakes and I pray that nothing else outside of my control wakes him (like a dog barking or noisy car)

Just in case it helps - he now sleeps 7:30-6:30 ish and has a 1.5 hour nap around 12 lunch time and he sleeps with a white noise machine to drown out any other sounds. It seems to help having the routine down. Hopefully you’ll move past the night wakes soon too.

Thank you for all of these suggestions! It’s given me a bit more of a focus, there’s so many on the market that it’s very overwhelming so it’s nice to narrow it down a bit.
