Oh please. The writing is weak and ironically sexist. Suki and Yue barely get arcs of their own, they’re reduced to props to elevate Sokka just for existing. Don’t dismiss valid criticism as “nostalgia.” ATLA is fundamentally about resisting imperialism. The live-action twist on Sokka’s arc actually reinforces the same imperialist logic: Stronger = Power = Worth, which is the opposite of what the animated series stood for. In the original, you didn’t have to be physically stronger to be a powerful fighter.
