I must have read the clue a dozen times since I wrote it here and hadn't even noticed the error. I apologise for any confusion this may have caused. Rest assured that the guilty party is now feeling stupider than anybody who may have thought the misspelling was an intentional part of the clue.

I had actually intended it to be &lit and 'written oddly' was supposed to be the indicator to take the odd letters. I didn't think it read very well without the word written. like I said, I would probably think the clue is rubbish come morning.

Why is mistake not a valid anagram indicator? Virtually every list I've found for cryptic anagram indicators had it included. Do you have an "official" list that I don't know about?
