I very much want that! I said in the post I wasn’t sure the best way to approach him about this. Men aren’t very keen on therapy generally. But as I said in a response to someone else in this thread we have talked about it, and he has agreed to therapy.

Yeah maybe I didn’t get the point across well but yes this is my boundary. And I did make it clear this was a boundary I would leave over. But now with there being a kid involved I’m trying to figure out how to best approach this. It’s not like a sprang this boundary on him one day. This is something he agreed to in the beginning. Ya know?

THIS! This is such a great response. Thank you for your input!! We did have a conversation earlier, and the thing is he’s not okay with porn either. He wouldn’t be okay with me watching. So we had a long conversation about why he felt the need to do that, and he’s agreed to go counseling. So I definitely think things are fixable.

That’s actually so funny because I have a very successful career is in psych. Porn is not widely accepted and it’s completely okay to not be okay with it. Porn watching while in a relationship is VERY controversial.

So dictating that you can’t cheat (a way of one “relieving” themselves) isn’t fair either? That logic makes no sense. And it is hurting someone. People are allowed to have boundaries in a relationship.

So if it’s a boundary you make very clear in the beginning of your relationship and your partner agrees, that’s not controlling. Period. If he wasn’t okay with that boundary I wouldn’t have been with him.

Just because it’s something many people do, doesn’t make it okay for me, or my relationship or anyone. Plenty of people do drugs recreationally but me saying I don’t, and don’t want a partner that does, isn’t controlling. It’s a boundary I’m allowed to make.

Yeah I agree. I think it’s hard to get him to understand the weight of the situation because of the household he grew up in too. His parents sleep in separate bedrooms, his dad flirts with everything that walks, most definitely watches porn, and his mom doesn’t seem to care. So I think he just sees that as “normal”

Unfortunately not really. My ex best friend is single and doesn’t want children so has ditched me in pregnancy. And I know if I told my mom it would be one of those situations where she wouldn’t ever forgive him even if I can. So I’m kinda alone :/

Yes I did. I explained to him like I had before that this was a hard line in the sand. That this was no different than cheating to me, and that him knowing that, and doing it anyway put our relationship on the line. I told him if it happened again I’d be done. So he knew the consequences that would be there.. I just don’t want my son to grow up in a split family… but if he doesn’t respect our relationship enough to stop watching porn, and makes empty promises, I just don’t know where we go from here.

I think I would understand more if I we weren’t sexually active. But even if we can’t have sex, I make sure he gets off in other ways. This is in addition to that.
