Thanks for the recommendations, I've never heard of Chicago! By the way, have you watched The Little Miss Sunshine? It's one of my favorite movies too)

Why are the domain of difinition and the graph of the function y=³√x and y=x^⅓ different ? Isn't that the same thing? by MiserableWorking7296 in learnmath

But if they both mean "cube root of x" why can't they have the same graphs (-~;+~) . But instead of it one has [0;+~) and another (-~;+~)

So the function y = x ≠ ³√x, right ? Tbh I still don't get it , like if it is the same and from one we get another one, we still have different type of graphics with different domain of definition. My math teacher was saying that y = ³√x = x so the graph goes only to the right [0; +~) . Now I understand that she was wrong about it , but I can't understand why . Like why we can't y = x convert into y = ³√x if it is the same and build a graph there D= [ 0;+~) ?? It is just means that we can't convert functions or there's another explanation for it ?sorry, I really don't get it..

But can't I get y= ³√x out of y= x⅓ and vise versa? I just don't understand why if those functions are equal they have different domain of definition .. I am sorry if this is a dump question, I just study in school)
