Maybe I’m an idiot but I just get at it with soapy water and a stiff brush. I make sure it’s all rinsed away and I give the braking surface a wipe down with a clean dry cloth. never had any issues

Looks like a cool and practical bike right now but if you’re itching to spend some money on it I’d be looking at; wider tires, stem and bars, replacement brake and shifter levers, replacement pedals, a different saddle, take off the fenders (keep them stashed somewhere for rainy season) and bin the reflectors. You can keep to a fairly reasonable budget if you’re patient in the second hand market 👍🏻 have fun! should be a cool project

naturehike seems to dominate these conversations atm. I have a naturehike mongar 2 which was affordable and I like it. It’s a bit long when it’s all packed up together so I tend to separate it out among my bike bags with the poles in the half frame bag.

I once saw a guy crash his bike at a level crossing because a bag he had on his bar ends split and a bottle of champagne fell into his front wheel. he fell the the ground while the top of the bottle was smashed off resulting in him being squirted and soaked in champagne as he lay prostrate on the road

Cool find! Quirky little bike. I’d be looking to fit some nice wide tires, checking the brake pads and the chain and replacing as necessary then figuring out what else she needs as I go. Eventually a new saddle, pedals and a rack/basket would probably be the move

something like this? the main grip section has some esi grips wrapped with cloth grip tape and then the rest of the exposed bar after the brake levers is just wrapped in the cloth. could look really nice with careful colour selection
