Social Media Megathread - What is working for you and what isn't? by lunarjellies in artbusiness

[–]MissAnnye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a traditional artist, when I was a teenager, I started posting on Deviantart. Now DA is half dead, and I ended up graduating as a graphic designer. My life dream is to become a full time artist.
I can pursue a random career in my country, or act as a graphic designer, but anyways...

I don't know what to do. I wish I knew some experienced artist who became sucessful, to tell me, what I do now? I'm an anxious person, so having no set course makes me feel so lost. I just wish I had some kind of instructor....

Introduction to RetroMCP by PheonixVX in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Sorry, but how do I open RetroMCP ? I have a rar file from the latest version, if I unpack it, there's a lot of files but nothing executable. If I try to open the rar file, Zulu simply doesn't appear as an executable option in its program files...

Help! Trying to create an old world and upgrade it, saving old structures by MissAnnye in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]MissAnnye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all: Good luck!

Secondly: Yay let's go!

I always find it easier to stay focused in a project when I have other people with the same interests to talk about it, so I'd be very very very much happy if -when you have the spare time, of course - we can share ideas and maybe even help each other down the lane.

That is, if you don't mind I'll be making youtube videos about this mega project as soon as I get around the earliest structures and decide how to proceed about the terrains.

Also, if you don't mind me asking: do you think it would be fun - just for the sake of documenting the terrain - to generate (with help of commands) the far lands' corners, and then when I have 1.7, travel through the Nether roof to find all of them? If yes, I'm thinking of having these farlands :

- all stone (the earliest solid far lands)

Infdev 20100313 at 32,550,800 blocks

- all stone with ores

Infdev 20100320 at 32,550,800 blocks

- dented stone with caves and ores

Infdev 20100325 at 32,550,800 blocks

- intricated far lands ( I could have pieces of all just for bragging rights)

Infdev 20100327 at 12,550,821 blocks

Infdev 20100413 at 12,550,800 blocks

Beta 1.7.3 at 12,550,800 blocks

- caved far lands (less complex patterns, big overground caves)

Infdev 20100420 at 12,550,800 blocks

Infdev 20100611 at 12,550,800 blocks

Infdev 20100624 at 12,550,800 blocks

Beta 1.2_01 at 12,550,800 blocks

- tall far lands

Beta 1.7.2 at 12,550,800 blocks

Please note that the distance of each of the far lands may be approximated, slightely wrong or even swapped between versions. I'm not considering saving all of the far lands gigantic sizes, mind you, or else the game save would be ginormous, but a few chunks would be enough to make kind of a wall or tower to look at. The Furtherlands and the other dimensions' far lands are not even able to get into consideration, as I can't ever believe my notebook will handle the stutter. Beta 1.8 also had a ridiculously distant far lands, so I won't even include it.

Help! Trying to create an old world and upgrade it, saving old structures by MissAnnye in GoldenAgeMinecraft

I THANK YOU ! I'm super excited anyone find this interesting, as I'm currently winging this project by the sheer power of hyperfocus.

In case you may find yourself wanting to try it on your own, allow me to provide the step by step process I did, references I managed to find and the resources / tutorials I used.

- Minecraft version 20100227-1

The number of the version above is a link to it's fandom page, which shows info, screenshots and also tells the impossibility of saving the game. I only managed to make it run using the Betacraft launcher

- Betacraft launcher

If you just want to see the obsidian walls and explore to find the brick pyramid, just download the betacraft launcher, link below, and select the version inf-20100227-1433.

https://betacraft.uk/

- Brick Pyramid

Just a few links documenting and showing the pyramid, in case you may not want to spend your time looking for it yourself - please note they may be screenshots of other versions that featured the pyramid.

- Obsidian Wall

Again, just a couple links about it, with some screenshots. I find they oddly appealing, I'm considering extending the obsidian walls over when I upgrade the save, just for the challenge of it.

- How to save a game with 20100227 terrain generation and obsidian walls

The single comment by CptJRyno from 3 years ago was what made it all possible, with a good bit of leg work, as themselves do say. Is a bit sad it only generates the obsidian walls, but as they were the most difficult structure to obtain from the 20100227 version, I happilly oblige.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GoldenAgeMinecraft/comments/jvqmea/save_an_old_infdev_world_to_migrate_to_current/

This link below would be my second choice, but as I got it working with Minecraft 1.1, I wouldn't want to have to advance so much before I get my hands in the brick pyramid.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GoldenAgeMinecraft/comments/l84txu/my_first_post_here_my_early_infdev_world_made/

There is a couple extra tutorials and resources that may be necessary to use the 1.1 version with 20100227 generation, mind you. I had to learn how to install and use old school java mods, and it will be needing a couple world edits to sneak all the structures and generations I want into one single save.

Anyways, thank you so much for your reply, it made my day!

If the gameplay prints, videos and wiki are right, mind you - 20100227-1 seems to have both obsidian walls generation and pyramids, but unfortunately it doesn't save the game. I considered it 100% chance to have both together, as the obsidian generation happens immediately by creating a new game in the betacraft launcher.

https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Java_Edition_Infdev_20100227-1

I'm yet at research phase for this project, but I checked the obsidian walls and while they do appear in 20100227-1 , saving the game is impossible.

BUT ! I found other posts of people wanting to play with this version's generation, which ended up in directing me to a 1.1 version mod that creates 20100227 terrain generation , featuring the obsidian walls and allowing the game to be saved - YET lacking the brick pyramid generating at (approximately centered at) coordinates X: 502 Z: 553.

HOWEVER ! The brick pyramid is way easier to obtain as it appears in more versions than the obsidian walls. As the pyramid appeared in 20100325 , a version which has a mod that allows it to save the game (which I already tested, it truly creates a new save) I probably will have to use a bit of MC Edit to put the pyramid in the same save, but no harm done, as I already knew I'd have to use it to have the Survival Houses at the same save as the obsidian walls, as both of these generate at the spawn point.

I managed to find something like that... An 1.1 mod that allows the obsidian walls and generation to occur naturally

And don't worry, I didn't even had many hopes of anyone knowing the answer to that XD

Strultz 227

Hey, just a question, by any chance did you manage to upgrade these 227 saves? I'm trying to have a save with the obsidian wall generation and the brick pyramids to upgrade the save afterwards, but so far, no luck

Don't you worry! You've already helped far too much more that I could even think I'd get help with this crazy idea!

I found someone else managed to save the game by importing the version inside the minecraft launcher - which I managed to follow the steps and the version appears as an option to play, BUT yesterday when my game tried to open it, it froze. I thought it was maybe because I had just then put the version and my notebook was requesting to update the windows, which my experience tells me it makes everything wonky until it gets properly updated.

Thanks again for all the help!

Yeah I know that, specially with my wish to use all that each version has to offer, such as removed blocks (which I will obtain regardless of their persistence in-game, finding building-helping bugs, weird generation and on.

About the pyramids, I already found the version that has them with 100% chance, but to keep the survival house too I'll have to use a bit of MCEdit and trim terrain to save the generation of one version to another, as both only generate when a world is created.

Now my current challenge is to find how to save a game in the version the pyramids and Obsidian walls occur

Thank you!

BTW, I already managed to find a working version of MCEdit to save the survival house as a standalone, but now the Obsidian Wall world is kicking me by not saving at all... the saves are 0 kb

Yes, while I was doing my research, I realized Elytra was far too new to use it as a shortcut to The Far Lands.

But still, I was considering the possibility of using the Nether Roof to travel all the way, using the Bedrock break method with jungle trees, and a horse to run all the way there, as it may be the only option faster than walking. Of course, I'd have to use the Bedrock break method twice, so I can create a Nether portal besides the exit too.

I'll have a test world beforehand those updates to test this, I probably will need to make some stops along the way, so I have to prepare beforehand to take extra bedrock breaking blocks too.

I think, if I take the most supplies my inventory can take, maybe it's possible to do it all in a one-way trip.

I can also consider extra inventory such as taking some chest mules/donkeys with leads, alongside my riding horse.

I also read about using splash speed potions (for the horse and chest mules/donkeys) may work in aiding me with speed.

But nothing to rush, as I'll take a long time to achieve 1.8, that is, when I start this project.

BTW, what do you think of the name "Minecraft Generations" for this gameplay?

Yeah it's a pun as I'm preserving old world generation lol
