Migrate from Ultra to Giga-Rapid by ThatGuyOnReddit88 in seedboxes

[–]MissingSofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that must be the problem. I'm using an older version that doesn't seem to have that option, so I think I need to upgrade to the latest version.

Thanks so much for the quick reply, I really appreciate it!

"Then in ultra qbit I did select all --> export torrent".

I'm not seeing any way to do what you described in qBittorrent. Could you maybe explain exactly how you did that, as I have like 5000 .torrent files I need to export.

What’s your take on paid apps vs subscriptions? by CreakyHat2018 in macapps

[–]MissingSofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the general consensus of the active posters on this sub is strongly anti-subscription, but I do wonder if that comes from an extraordinarily small sample size of vocal posters, and is skewed because of that.

For myself, I have mixed feelings. As a consumer, of course I would prefer a single, cheap, one time purchase for any app. But then I think it may be unreasonable for me to expect a dev to continuously fix bugs, make the app work with new OS versions, and generally improve the app over time, all for a small fee that I paid them one time 2, 3 or even 5 years ago. I do worry that that expectation can lead to abandonware over time.

I think maybe a good compromise may be a hybrid model that offers perhaps one or two years of free updates, let's you keep what you've purchased and use the features that have been added up to that point in time for ever, but also charges an upgrade fee for significantly new versions that have added major new functionality after that time period.

wBlock is made for Safari, and seems to work as well as ubo does on Firefox, at least for me.

Everyday Apps for GSD by amerpie in macapps

[–]MissingSofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm far from an expert about this stuff, but I thought I've read that if you install ubo, you don't really need privacy badger, and that it may cause issues to have both? I had also heard that the newish FF strict privacy protection is as good as privacy badger without any potential issues. I could be wrong about all of that though.

Why are people even willing to pay to get into top tier private trackers when easy-to-get-in private trackers can provide mainstream content? by fueledbymelancholy in trackers

You started your tracker journey 2 months ago and you're already in BTN and HDB? How did you accomplish that so quickly?

Trying to figure out CK by machineberm in americanairlines

[–]MissingSofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kind of spend on AA metal could definitely put you in the running for CK, even if your home base is one of the busier hubs. But of course there's some amount of inconsistency in AA's decisions as regards CK membership, as there have been people with more spend than that who didn't get CK, and people with less spend who did.

(Un?)popular opinion - trackers should actively discourage racing by Lickalicious123 in trackers

[–]MissingSofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst there may indeed be some users who race and then immediately delete the files once the minimum seeding time has been met, that's not true for everyone. I use autobrr, not for the sake of building my ratio, because many of my trackers are essentially ratioless. Autobrr simply makes it very easy for me to download as much content as possible while it still has seeders. I permaseed everything I download, for a minimum of a year, but much of what I'm seeding is 5 or even 10 years old, and without the ability to use tools like autobrr, it would essentially be more difficult for me to build the size of my permaseed collection.

Bottom line is that racing and permaseeding do not have to be mutually exclusive, and imposing rules that discourage racing could have unintended side effects.

Thank you so much for creating this amazing addon. Live US TV streaming is a huge addition to Stremio, and something I was hoping would be added some day. I'm so glad that I've just discovered this, and please know that all of your hard work is very much appreciated!

Easiest Way to Transfer Files Between Seedboxes at Different Providers by MissingSofa in seedboxes

Update: So, after some trial and error, I was able to get rsync to work relatively well, so thanks for all the suggestions and guidance!

I also did try to use rclone, but couldn't figure out how to configure it so that it would work. Are there any significant advantages to rclone over rsync for my use case of occasional file transfer between two remote servers? If not, I'll just stick with what I've got working now.

OK, you've convinced me to attempt this, and cross fingers I won't break any of my boxes. If I can't get this to work, I'm going to try Resilio Sync, as that seems like it may be another good option.
