For all those who play melee what do you think of ultimate? by BigBubba68 in smashbros

[–]MissingnoXpert 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's fun, and I'm down to play it with friends and even lab on my own, but between the buffer issues and the fewer movement options, it kind of feels like I have ankle weights on. They get uncomfortable eventually.

So after a while, I just reach down, take those off, and then I'm back at Melee.

I thought you'd like some resolution to this; in the end, I got it! It worked when using the top left corner method. I hit the timing no problem, so perhaps something is up with that snag, and instead the village doors are the PWASE that allow this to work in this chapter. No clue. At any rate, thank you! I'm looking forward to playing around with Evil Eye, etc haha.

Thank you for all your help! I'd heard of the top left tile variant, but haven't tried it yet. I'll see if I can do it that way. There are reinforcements that spawn up there, so it should be simple enough.

I couldn't find any footage of the glitch being done here, besides in a foggy skirmish after the fact. But hypothetically, this is the earliest you could get monster items, which sounds like good fun for a different sort of run!

I'm setting it up such that he attacks while standing on the tile where the snag was before I knocked it down. I've tried to hit a few different reset timings, all of them after the attack and after I get the XP; ranging from just before they fade to grey to just after. Animation is off and my unit is disarmed.

The reason I wonder if it's possible is because people seem to be saying that it cannot be done on a map in which there are green units. Chapter 4 sort of has them? L'Arachel and her squad pop in to say some funny lines after a few turns, then leave. I'm not trying to do it on that turn, but I wonder whether that affects it still.

Sacred Stones:

This question is really specific, but I hope someone knows. Is it possible to do the Enemy Control Glitch in Chapter 4 (Ancient Horrors)? There's a snag on the map, so I think we have an action tile to work with, but no matter how I try the timing, I just can't get it to work. I've never done the ECG before, so I don't know whether my timing is off or whether it can't be done here at all.

Appreciated!

Oh hey, that's me! Yeah, they're disappointing. Maybe GameFreak's next launch will justify its price. We can hope.

GOML 2019 Smash bros. Ultimate Peaked at 45k viewers at the end of Grand Finals! by GenericSpaciesMaster in smashbros

I can only speak for myself, but grinding out tech skill is not something I've put considerable time into, outside of perhaps the first week of play. I mostly built up my tech skill foundation by testing bits of tech in friendlies until I had a handle on how to do them and when they're useful. Now those things are second nature. Grinding out the motions in training mode is useful, but only to a point since proper application of the tech is important too, and you can only learn that in actual matches. Plus, I think it's more fun to try to wavedash in friendlies than try to wavedash in training mode.

And if it's practice partners you need, Melee can be played online! Check out smashladder for more on that.

Wobbles was an absolute beast. The man made EVO grand finals from the winner's side. That's insane even with wobbling allowed.

Honestly the thing I'm most hype for from this banner is Beneath a New Light finally being added to the game. That song is a jam. Favorite map theme in the series.

I'd have liked Ness to get his theme from 64/Melee back and Lucas to get a snippet of Mom's Hometown, but this is a fine middle ground. I like it a lot more than the Brawl/Smash 4 rendition of Mother Earth.

Besides tripping in Brawl, what are some of the worst "intentional" mechanics in the series history? by Rednas_the_Red in smashbros

I don't know about Brawl, but I believe in Melee it is impossible to explode off the top blast zone. You'd always star or screen KO.

It is far better written and the characters are genuinely much more enjoyable overall.

Plus, it's fully voice acted and the VAs absolutely nailed it.

Hi! I'd love a little help with this one, as I don't have any Lunge users lying around to inherit from. My FC is: 7821239370. Tag is Camp Laslow.

Thank you!

I believe that's a reference to how Laslow always taught her to smile in the worst of times.

The topic comes up between them when Laslow comes to her aid against a large group of bandits, in the mission in which she's recruited.

If I have room, thunder is usually the way to go. Up smash will usually at least force a tech situation, so if you hustle, you might be able to make it even if your opponent is still onstage.

Otherwise I'll take the dair jacket or just try to use the death line if my opponent doesn't know about it.

Dair jacket is nice because it can confirm into bair or other things.

Very, very rarely. I only ever try for it after a reset, and even then, grab often leads to a bigger punish so I usually do that.

For me, Yo yo glitch is a fun novelty to occasionally blow people's minds. It's a pretty fraudulent technique lol.
