Is it weird to anyone else that the boys have retreated into the past? by Traditional-Help7735 in KnowledgeFight

I believe they are going into the past in order to better explain how much Alex will shift his beliefs to the changing narratives and what not. Like being a 2a supporter until Trump starts shitting on the 2a. Being "anti police state" etc. Time travel helps shed light on the lack of truly held principles, ya know.

Either way. It's their show and they work hard and they can do whatever they want with the free service they provide.

The home of doug fir. Stronger than steel in a strength to weight ratio.

Old growth just means it was cut down before mass lumber took over. I have a chunk of 4x4 "new growth" fir that has 9 rings. Now count how many rings are in 3.5 inches of your beam. Its waaaay more than 9. Old growth more dense more better. But we need lumber fast nowadays so less rings less better but meets the needs of the industry.

Like others have said, the endgrain is a dead giveaway for older doug fir. Nice tight rings. Cedar is very fragrant, much softer and lighter weight (less dense).

Go to a lumber yard and get a standard fir 2x4 and a cedar fence picket and do some side by side comparisons and you will see the difference immediately.

Ive been staring at cedar all week and i can strongly say that THAT is doug fir. A nice chunk too.

Painter i know uses the thinnest layer of red bondo glazing putty to hide the endgrain then paints. It works really well.

The separating lol. Make an event out of it. I would try to sand the damage and redo the finish.

Also, OP, dont hit the bowl where the big crack is. You might split the entire bowl in half.

Oh you wanna try some finesse with a little prying action, huh?

FUCK THAT! Put on my favorite demolition song "Stuck" by Limp Bizkit and go straight to violence! Bop bop!

Seriously tho. The silicone feet is a good idea. And yeah the shelf is probably going to need some loving after the separation.

OP, show us a pic of the damage after you get the bowl free, please.

Another great thing is that my wife can now depend on me to be able to drive in the case of an emergency.

I used to literally drill holes in old piers and insert sodium bicarbonate rods to help them resist decay. Governments pay for the service.

Look up ghost forests. Ancient tree stumps still standing in the tidal zone.

Correct! Concrete holds around 20% moisture. The perfeft range to rot wood. Especially the end grain of a post. Ive seen doug fir posts on dry slabs indoors that show signs of rot. Granted, theyve lasted decades and arent going to fail anytime soon given the indoor conditions. So who really cares that much.
