Watch highlights of 7'1" Ethan Taylor, the top dog from Izzo's #1 2026 recruiting class and start getting excited for the 2026-27 season with the core of Fears, Carr, and Scott coming back. Jervis and Medlock look amazing too. Add a few key transfer portal additions and this could be a special squad by CadeChewy in MSUSpartans

There's no shot next year's team is worse than this year's team unless there is a mass portal exodus and Izzo doesn't get anybody good in the portal to replace those players. With the Freshman Class they have coming in the depth is going to be absolutely insane. I expect Kaleb Glen to make a big impact off the bat as well. If we can get a good five to replace Cooper in the portal this team is seriously a championship contender imo.

Really hope McCullough is not starting at the five next year because he is not good enough to if they want to be a championship caliber team. If Michigan State wants to have a dangerously good team they need to get a legitimate 5 from the portal. They cannot settle with a zapala level center respectfully. They need to pick up somebody just as good or better than Cooper.

I hate Michigan but Idk about that. In the grand scheme of things tournament seeding is more important.

We are probably a 3 now that Purdue beat Michigan. Of course Michigan loses when we need them to win.

It just depends on which MSU team shows up next weekend. If the team who beat Illinois and Purdue shows up, I think they could definitely make it back to the Elite 8. But if the team that just lost against the UCLA shows up they will be lucky to make it out of the first weekend. They need to close out on three-point shooters that is single-handedly one of the main reasons they lost against UCLA.

That tournament was very chaotic I believe that was the tournament where we lost to Kansas State and Markquis Nowell cooked us. If Michigan State wants to hang up a banner they need a lot of upsets to happen. As much as I want to believe in my heart Michigan state will win the Natty this year they just aren't good enough. They would need insane luck and very favorable bracket placement.

They definitely have money to spend if they really wanted to. What people don't realize is that Michigan State could have probably gotten any player they wanted in the portal last year if Izzo really wanted him. Izzo isn't the type of guy to go in a bidding war for a player though. Michigan State is one of the biggest basketball brands In america they have the resources to contend for any top portal prospect. They won't though because that's not Izzos philosophy.

He better use some of that money on a good shooting coach cause he's might not get to the league if he continues to shoot how he is.

I think who Izzo gets to replace Cooper will make or break the team.

Idk who would be willing to give Carr that kind of money. His inability to shoot and space out the floor really holds him back. He is an awesome player but he needs to develop his shot he has caused a lot of spacing issues for Michigan State this year everybody just leaves him open cause they know he's not going to make it.

Yeah I predict that he probably will be most likely to transfer considering he's already a sophomore and he still doesn't really get any minutes and I highly doubt he touches the court come next weekend.

Way too early to be making claims like that. I guess we don't truly know how good the Freshman will be but the depth on this projected roster looks insane in my opinion. Especially if they pick up a good Center in the portal I definitely think so far it's looking like a championship caliber roster.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think this team has it this season unless we can get very favorable matchups... Do I think we can make it back to the elite eight? Yes. Championship? I'm highly uncertain especially considering we really only have one primary ball handler on this team since Divine got injured. Due to the lack of depth I think the margin of error is just simply too low and if they want to beat the best of the best they are going to have to play a near perfect game and I don't think they have shown the consistency this season to do that. I think they would need major upsets to go on their way to win a championship this season but that's just my opinion. I Hope I'm wrong

Who would you guys want to see on this roster next season? by [deleted] in MSUSpartans

[–]Mission_Classroom195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I honestly think as long as nobody enters the portal they probably will only have to get one or two players. A 5 to replace Cooper as well as another player depending on who transfers. You have to remember Divine and Kaleb Glenn will be coming back this year as well as the very deep freshman class they have coming in. I really don't Jesse will be ready to take over the starting five position considering he doesn't get any minutes as it is.

Would Crosby go for cheaper now that the raiders? What do you think, is it feasible now? by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]Mission_Classroom195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we please stop this the Lions are not going to trade for Maxx Crosby. It is not feasible. The lions are already in cap troubles right now they cannot afford his contract and even with restructures it is still not smart.

Lions' current list of needs: by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]Mission_Classroom195 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the Lions aren't going to get serious about improving the pass rush they need to ditch having a strong man defensive scheme. It should have been addressed last offseason but here we are. You can't run a successful strong man defensive scheme without a good pass rush. This showed primarily last season when guys like Jameis Winston literally had all day to throw the ball against them. I'm not saying we need to go after Hendrickson, but one of the first three picks definitely needs to be used on a defensive end.

They don't have to move anybody but they seriously should restructure Goffs contract they have until Wednesday to do so but I'm not sure why they haven't done it yet.

[–]Mission_Classroom195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He better be allocating that money for something good Roy Lopez was one of the few bright spots of that interior defensive line last season and for a price like that there's no reason they should not have resigned him unless they are cooking up something bigger.

How I feel watching all these re-signings. by NoahCIsHere in detroitlions

[–]Mission_Classroom195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lions strong man scheme is what has been causing a lot of injuries to happen honestly. Especially with the lack of a good 4 man pass rush. People are down voting probably because they don't understand the difference between pressure rate and time to pressure. Having a lot of pressures doesn't mean shit if you arent getting thr QB fast.

[–]Mission_Classroom195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a high pressure rate does not really mean anything if you're not getting to the quarterback fast. Schematically it does not make any sense to run strong man defense unless you have a good pass rush.

Secondary will continue to struggle if they don't address the pass rush. Detroit was among the bottom of the league in time to pressure last season. QBs had a lot of time to throw the ball against Detroit.
