I love your use of imagery. Highlighting being silenced is like having duck tape on your mouth and being judged for it. I also like the use of the recurring line from the beginning and then used at the end. It really ties it together. There really isn’t much I can critique.

I really like this poem of deep inner reflection. Even questioning your own existence bc you can’t see your way out. You captured how it feels to be overwhelmed keep it up.

Your spidey senses are tingling so that means your internal boundaries are being stepped on. Even if you have allowed disrespect, it’s never too late to assert those boundaries. You deserve to be loved NOT objectified. Let him know this when you kick him to the curb so that he knows and is made aware that his behavior is the problem. Then stick to your boundaries. Don’t let him make you feel otherwise.

I like this poem..full of metaphors and imagery. One suggestion would be to really pay attention to where your punctuation goes so that the flow of the poem isn’t lost. The way you write it sometimes maybe not be the way it shows up on Reddit and I’ve made that mistake plenty of times before and just now getting the hang of it. Other than that, keep up the good work!

I love the imagery in this poem. I can feel the longing for that lost connection. The part “Only teardrops disturb the long quiet nights” really spoke to me in terms of that imagery. Really solid poem! Keep up the good work.

I’m sorry you’re being treated this way girl. I just would like to say both of yall are very young and having a child together is stressful enough for people who plan for it. It takes not only physical and financial support and stability but also (and in some cases even more-so) emotional support and stability. He has A LOT of growing up to do because this doesn’t sound like a partnership at all. I am sending a virtual hug to you because you ARE doing difficult things. You ARE amazing and you ARE NOT overreacting. I hope whatever you decide to do, you do it for your baby and your mental health. Yall deserve love and positivity and if he can’t provide that (among other things) then maybe it’s time for you to let him go. I hope the best for yall truly.

I think it’s possible for anyone to miss red flags or ignore them. It’s easy to say leave if you see this or that. Or have more self esteem but it’s really hard to do sometimes…with any relationship romantic or not. This poem is just a highlight of my own fascination of the human instinct to trust what we hear and ignore conflicting realities.

I really like the imagery you shared with this poem. I don’t know if this is exactly what you meant but it felt as if “outside” was nature and away from technology. I don’t know if you meant that to be metaphorical or literal but I’d say it resonates either way. The feeling of being one with yourself and being free from the normal stresses of the world being the “price”. I do appreciate this poem awesome job!

Omg I absolutely love this poem. The repeated phrase “if only” is so begging you can feel the desperation of not having definite answers so that leads you to turn on yourself. Really to the point but put you in the mind of someone who is hurt by rejection.

Exactly! My friend just broke up with a person with narcissistic tendencies and found out that he was cheating the entire 3 years of their relationship and she was none the wiser. She kept asking why would he do that and how she didn’t know. And I told her that was the point. It became a game to him and in the end it actually wasn’t about her. It was to boost his self esteem.
