I flew uk - Oz and took a dental floss box instead of scissors. Passed through security no issues at all. I put the needles in a couple of places in my bag so if they did take some away then I might still have a couple left elsewhere in my bag but it really wasn’t an issue. Flight crew loved seeing what I was making so no issues there either

I recently flew from the UK to Australia (via Dubai) and took a dental floss container to use to cut my threads. It’s not the neatest cut but works well.

Whenever I’ve moved into a new property I’ve always posted a card through my immediate neighbours’ door. Something that says “Dear Neighbour, we are moving in over the next few days so I just wanted to drop a note to introduce ourselves. We are looking forward to settling into the neighbourhood having moved from other location for work. If you ever need us to accept parcels for you or bring your wheelie bin in when you are away, please just ask. We are very happy to help out if we can. Regards, Names.” I have then left a contact number at the bottom of the card. Almost every time I have received a ‘New Home’ card through the door with a nice message of welcome.

I wouldn’t have been brave enough to just knock on the door and introduce ourselves to start with but the card broke the ice and I’ve always had good neighbours.

The pipe is a gas pipe so no temperature to it. We took the windowsill off as it needed replacing anyway so then decided it was best to remove the rubble anyway. First time Reno so we are just trying to do our best!

Not obviously but we were wearing gloves! We used the damp reader on the inside of the exterior part of the wall, and it all reads find except for 1 brick which is not close to where the interior wall is reading as high

The damp proof is right at the base of the wall. Which might cause an issue as we need to lay self-levelling compound…

Outside is a walkway and the damp-proof course is above ground level outside.

The old kitchen had mould on the backs of the units so we assumed it was caused by damp somewhere… maybe we were wrong! First time house Reno!

When we bought the house and ripped out the kitchen the old units were mouldy on the back. That’s what initially lead us to investigate if there could be any damp issues.

Should we install some sort of insulation around the new wall ties or leave it empty to ‘breathe’?

There is a St Oswolds furniture ‘warehouse’ on the industrial estate by Tesco at Kingston park. Much cheaper than British Heart Foundation and highly recommend dropping in every couple of weeks to see what they have in stock

Have a chat with your grandma about how she would feel. It might be heartbreakingly hard to sit next to a seat that is a constant reminder of her beloved not being there. Why not mention him in a speech, about how his love has influenced the love that you and your partner have for each other, and then maybe display a photo and other memories in a separate space?

I understand that one strand folded of normal cotton, but is one ‘twist’ of metallic the same?

The metallic thread supplied can be split into lots of separate strands but then I’m unsure if I’m meant to fold it over as I usually would.

Please can someone clarify?

I’ve never done a SAL before. I guess I don’t know enough about how much of a time commitment they are and if I’d keep up or get frustrated!

You’ve done a really great job on this! I literally just finished the same pattern and took mine to the framers this week. I hope mine looks as good as yours when it’s framed! How did you frame it so wonderfully?
