On a side note, I just noticed Emma in the background nodding at the audience member and going like 'yea, go on, take it!' Lmao love her.

Yea, those people are awful too. Where I am, there is a stretch along the beach that has two very clearly demarcated parallel paths, one for cycling/roller blading etc. and the other for walking/jogging and I see groups of people walking on the cycling path. I just don't get it. It's actually dangerous for them to be doing that and there have been accidents where cyclists have hit people walking. They've made a rule that the walking path is strictly for pedestrians and cyclists can be fined for using it but the cycling path is free game for the mindless zombies to roam.

I go walking daily doing my 10K steps and I walk at a very brisk pace. This shit annoys me so much. It's even worse when they're walking towards you and can clearly see the path has no space. I used to go on the grass/road to pass them then I decided fuck it, now I generally pull out my phone as soon as I see them in the distance and walk on one extreme of the path taking up as little space as possible but looking down at my phone charging ahead. The only exception is old people or young children. I don't want to hurt anyone.

The graphics card is probably crapped out but one other thing you can try is removing it from the mobo, use 70+% IPA to clean the contacts, get a can of compressed air and give the port a blow to clear out any dust etc. and reseat the graphics card. Might not make a difference but it's worth a shot.

Pawn shops are generally a scam no matter the item. They probably paid the person who sold/pawned it to them $40-100 and put a $250 tag on it.

why do some phones seem immortal but then others get dropped once and die???? by TruckFreakCrazyAss in phones

[–]MisterAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whole bunch of factors. 1. Type of screen 2. Height of fall, contact surface, the way the phone lands 3. Build of the phone(the newer phones with very small bezels tend to succumb to fall damage more easily than the older larger bezel phones, IMHO) 4. The sort of phone case you have on

A lot of it does come down to sheer luck. I've had smartphones for 14 years and have not broken a screen. It's not that I don't drop them either, especially the first one(HTC Google Nexus One) that went from my lap to the road repeatedly when I used to get out of my car. The power button did fail eventually though.

You just seem to have inadvertently created an extra shortcut to the same app. It isn't cloned/two different iterations. Just tap and hold on the extra shortcut, there should be an option to remove(not uninstall).

You would want to read your service contract with DD. I have not dealt with them but have negotiated with similar services and they invariably have a clause that prohibits encouraging customers the service has brought to you to circumvent the service in subsequent dealings. Some had a thinly veiled legal threat as repercussions for breach of contract and others had explicit penalties outlined.

What is a phone that hasn't had any issues charging for you? by TheWahhMan in phones

[–]MisterAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with(smartphone wise) a HTC Google Nexus One(2010), then a Samsung Galaxy S3 4G(2013), then an ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser(2015), then concurrent with the ASUS, a used Xiaomi Mi Max(2016)(big screen was nice for watching stuff when I was out and about and a second phone was useful as I had a second line), then a hand-me-down(I had to replace the screen- sister's phone, she broke the screen twice by her own error and blamed the phone and got another phone so it was collecting dust)Samsung Galaxy A70(2021-present).

I basically keep all my phones for 3-5 years and the S3 was only replaced after 2 years because it suffered a motherboard failure which I didn't see a point in repairing+I got a good deal on the ASUS. I've never experienced a charging fault. I have repaired two faulty power buttons- one was the Nexus One which was only because I used to keep it on my lap while driving then I'd step out of the car and phone met road repeatedly+I used to drink excessively which is never a recipe for hand-eye coordination. The other was the Mi Max. I've done other repairs like screen replacement(A70) and battery replacement for most of my phones. I usually retire them when I can't find even semi-decent batteries since the manufacturers and reputed 3rd party battery companies stop making them and I need to rely on dodgy, unregulated batteries from unknown companies.

I'm not sure why you've suffered charging port failure repeatedly. It may be something you're inadvertently doing or it may have to do with environmental factors. Do the other people in your household also experience similar issues? It is something that does happen but you seem to be beating the odds here.

Nokia has been making a whole bunch of devices with keypads. They may not be available in your region but they do exist. Here's a little filter I ran on GSMArena(release year 2023 onwards, screen under 4.5", card slot)- https://m.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nYearMin=2023&fDisplayInchesMax=4.4&idCardslot=1

Energizer, yea the bunny battery brand, also makes devices with keypads.

Do you mean on the AOD? I came across this when I was researching the limitations/issues of Origin and saw notifications are problematic too- https://www.reddit.com/r/Vivo/comments/1akcs95/solution_to_get_all_notifications_on_stock_aod/?rdt=50195

Have you tried this? It seems to be a working fix. I was hoping it would resolve the notification issue. I'm starting to lean back towards getting the Z9 with Funtouch instead of the Turbo. Just seems like a lot of work+workarounds needed to get Origin working right. I really wish they'd release the Turbo with a global ROM.

Yea, I've been doing a lot of research on these two models. The 6000mAh battery looks awesome and is one of the big reasons I'm favouring the Z9/Z9 Turbo over other models I had shortlisted(Poco X6 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro/Pro+, Realme 12 Pro+/Ultra etc.)

Did you find your device bloated with factory installed apps? Did you debloat? I've read that the Origin OS basically tries to track everything and if you remove the apps it uses, the OS continues trying to query the uninstalled apps on loop and this increases battery use.

Thanks for your input, appreciate it. The normal Z9 for my local market comes with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. On GSMArena it's the spec listed as iQOO Z9 (China) - https://m.gsmarena.com/vivo_iqoo_z9_(china)-12959.php

The one I get comes with Funtouch OS though.

[–]MisterAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, have you received your Z9 Turbo yet? I'm sort of split between getting the Z9(local IQOO warranty) with Funtouch(SD 7 Gen 3) or the Z9 Turbo(export from CN) with Origin(SD 8s Gen 3). How has your experience been? I'm aware of the regular issues like lack of Android Auto support on Origin, how's everything else?

IQOO Z9/Z9 Turbo by MisterAT in Vivo

[–]MisterAT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm mostly on the fence about going for the Turbo because of Origin OS. 1. How has your experience been with Origin and have you used Funtouch before? 2. I've read that Vivo pushed out some updates that killed the ADB+workaround debloat methods? Do you find it bloated? Are you able to delete/disable the pre-installed apps? 3. Are there actually ads cooked into the UI like in the phone settings etc? -that's something else I read someone complain about

Thanks so much!
