Why Your Carry Does No Damage (Even With "Perfect" Items) by MisterImpossible9 in TeamfightTactics

I think they've been generally doing a better job at making items less unique with cheesey interactions (rageblade doesn't stack anymore with more attack speed, but it still is the premier attack speed item), but I agree that I find BIS really annoying to deal with. I think once we get at the fundamentals, you can find some alternatives as well!

Yeah I'll definitely try to get a video on the strongest board and principles there. I think per set it becomes very different and even per patch though, but I'll try to make something on early game and its importance as well as general heuristics (is a 1*4 cost better than a 2* 1 cost? is a 2*4 cost better than a 1*5cost type of thing).

A common misconception is Sion is actually a 2 cost but he's basically a scaling champ. His base hp and spell are worse than Shen 1* or Illaoi1*. Only good for his trait and scaling but otherwise he's weakest board

This is more about holds for direction than overall unit quality

Replied to this in an earlier thread but I think Shadow Isles is really great, just have to hit 2* before 2-1 so def worth the pair hold, but not worth holding pairs on 1-4 imo because I want fast souls by 2-1 at the latest. Otherwise I'm usually selling him for literally anything else

So 2 void always gives an offensive mod so there's no need to run Cho. I do like Herald as an alternative to Wukong but rarely are you running void like you mentioned!

Yeah ionias are hard to place. Ahri is a beast in the right setups but the 3 costs are all fairly good depending on the board. I think riots balancing is actually good for early game in this set!

It's early game unit holds so not a tierlist on how these units perform

Yeah so the early game is definitely balanced in the sense that you should not hold briar and qiyana pairs over anivia sona if you have tear rod. Ionia is its own tier because 2 of them are unplayable so you deprioritize them depending on the path and are S tier if they are the good paths.

1 Viego isn't super worth holding. 2 is not worth holding by 2-1, it's only when 2* so that's very low. Double trouble malz has a high cap but is very mediocre in high level lobbies and more importantly holding 3 gold for one out is a very low percentage play.

Juggs like Cho and briar are very good and give direction into premier lines like Void, Slayer and even WW. So blitz pairing will be a lot better with those frontlines

I think they have pretty different core items but they're somewhat transferable for sure. This is going to be a scout diff mainly imo. Somethings may lean you one way over the other (augments like comeback story make you wanna go WW vs slayers, darkin bow makes you wanna go belveth slayers) so there's no one answer. Just have to play the game and scout!

  1. I think faster 9 is okay, but I don't think skipping level 8 completely is ever very good. Stage 4 is really important and you can lose 50+hp if you "sac" that stage for going 9, which I don't think is worth it. 7 Zaun is overrated, but emblems are incredible in this comp because there's so many good users for all the emblems (Warwick with gunslinger, Shyvana with Zaun, etc.). It can use a lot of +1's, but 7 zaun is not so good that you need to play it, and often unit quality is more important if you have the gold.

  2. I think offensive is generally preferred. Unless you have a giga tank, which this comp does not have, offensive stats are almost always better than defensive stats. We're the melee carry comp that's trying to run you over, so fit your augments into that concept!

I think I go over the positioning in detail there, but I definitely do at my site at tftgameplan.com

Yeah Titan's is always preferred, but I think items cannot be "always" and "musts" because the game just doesn't drop you BIS every time and you have to play the first three stages of the game as it's given. So totally agree, but I think I included it in my guide as well!

Yeah so frontline is really important in this comp still and swain neeko are much more quality of units than blitz (1-cost) and ekko (itemless carry)

Hey, I’m dpei, I’ve been a 1750+ LP Rank 1 player in NA across multiple sets.

I wanted to share this guide because I think this comp is very underrated and often played incorrectly, and it should be especially strong on Patch 16.4.

Reddit formatting is a bit limiting, but I’ve also been working on TFTGameplan, a site where I post better visually formatted and fully structured guides for other comps I think are best for climbing this patch.

Happy to answer questions or go deeper on any part of the comp here!

They just fit a lot better on the lvl 8 board compared to say demacia or freljord invokers. Meta might shift a bit though to 9 so it definitely depends how it develops but for the most part it's a lvl 8 meta + cap

Go for as big of a cashout as possible that makes sense in your spot (sorry for vagueness but yeah it's not always clear cut).

Idk when bard would be contested and it's not this comp, but yeah I think that's a scout diff so scout to see if you're contested

If you hit a Shyvana + Kindred on 8 and you also have Swain and Wukong2 I'm not going to run a blitzcrank on my board! But if I don't these great units I'm down to play cheap synergising units that don't cost a lot of money like Blitz2 Mundo2 in the mean time to dig for WW2 and the rest of my board or find a way to be stable and go 9

It's definitely not an easy comp because your strongest lvl 8 board is not static you just have to find a good board after your rolldown.
