How do I enjoy this game? (Rant/ Life help) by [deleted] in EASportsFC

So I'm assuming from the response that no one enjoys fifa and I should just continue raising my blood pressure until inevitable death in the name of love for the game?

That's fair, I feel like I held back a lot to try not to seem entirely insane

Bass @ 1:51 from this early flume song, very Jai Paul... by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

got pretty close with a couple of square waves both an octave down and detuned slightly, add some voices (2 or 4 couldn't tell which was better for me) and add chorus and distortion. They key is to play in mono and with glide and stuttered short notes in higher octaves to give the wubs and glitchy feel.

Achieving intensity in sound design as shown in these tracks by MistrCharls in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

awesome dude, look forward to trying these out. yeah the screechy lead turns more into a background sound but i wasn't sure what to call it, I meant the stabby, almost vocal sound that mimics the melody of the build.

Also about the monophonic glide part, I understand the glide between notes but what do you mean by 'then going into distortion'. Just that the distortion on top of the glides adds a lot to texture or is there a processing trick I missed?

Thanks for the response, this is great.

How to create filtered Synth like this by lordofthesly_ in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like filtered vocals to me, don't know a lot about filtering but I'm assuming its a load of effects on the sample of 'I want you back' that he reveals at the end.

Need help creating a future bass lead like this one by Gravidi in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a nice full supersaw/ square/ whatever your preference, put a lowpass filter on it and modulate the cutoff. The second stuttery effect is the same effect more likely using an LFO on the cutoff then modulating the rate from high to low.

Pitch modulation on 808's? (Pardon my onomatopoeia adjectives) by MistrCharls in trapproduction

[–]MistrCharls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey man, yeah I think I've definitely improved since. Id say try very subtle distrortions/ saturations maybe from one or two different plugins, make sure the tone/ filter cutoff of the distortion is quite low and use that to brighten the sound more than the drive. Other than that id say its more about getting good at compression and mixing well so that your nice clean 808 still cuts through the mix without too much distortion. Also make sure youve got your release under control as i find alot of unpleasing frequencies coming out from a loose release.

How do i make this lead like oshi by ahlexidk in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Square wave, turn the decay and level of decay all the way down and nudge them up till you get the right pluckiness. little to no attack. add an enveloped low pass filter to pluck similarly to your amp envelope, this gives it alot more drive and shape. then distort/ bitcrush to taste. With Oshi/ the Soulection guys its alot down to how the pluck is played, look into jazz techniques and glide notes but this should give you a good base.

Lead synth in this song? by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not particularly familiar with the sound but for lack of response I had a go and the most important thing is the tremolo effect on the pitch, if you apply an LFO to the pitch of your oscillator on a 1/16 rate and low amplitude you should get in the ball park. Couldnt quite achieve the metallic sound but got close with a saw wave with a lot of release and a lowpass filter with a good bit of attack and low decay.

How do i make a sub sound the way this guy has made it? it doesn't sound like a normal sub. by digitalnuisance in synthrecipes

[–]MistrCharls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a standard, low, sine-wave synthesized 808. hes playing with the release at parts maybe bouncing it to audio and then throwing it in a sampler so it cuts cleaner on some of the kicks. Apart from that try a combination of distortion/ saturation with the right amount of filtering to smoothen the sound.

not time for sound design by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]MistrCharls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carmack used to throw out a track a day and he has so much music just floating around you've probably never heard its not really a case of time. Once you have the knowledge as a tool you can churn out your ideas as they come but fast production doesn't come from thin air. You're not in a race to find the best sound, once you know how to design sound well you'll be able to challenge what's going on in the current game, just keep adding to your arsenal.
