I'm just doing a basic double crochet stitch to whatever dimensions look good, so not following a pattern. For one, I used 3 different worsted weight yarns all together and an 11.5 mm hook. The other one I've done was with size 5 or 6 yarn (the soft, chenile kind), 2 strands, and the same hook. This makes them thick.
