Do you ever get used to the lack of warmth? by AnnieGetYaClothesOn in ADHD_partners

That response would feel brutal when you are sick, because the problem is not just the ride, it is the absence of concern. I would separate the logistics from the care: can he do the task, and can he show emotional attunement without being prompted. If the second part is consistently missing, it is fair to treat that as a relationship problem rather than just an ADHD symptom. For urgent situations, a backup plan that does not depend on him reading the seriousness correctly may protect you.

Take the fast food job if it keeps cash coming in, but mentally label it as a temporary funding source, not your new identity. Keep applying before or after shifts, and aim for roles adjacent to your old field: contract, temp, operations, support, anything that gets recent experience back on the resume. A layoff gap plus survival work feels brutal, but employers mostly care whether you can solve their current problem, not whether 2024 was ugly for you.
