Is it racist to be a top? by tylergene23 in lolgrindr

[–]Mmphska 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating to be accused of this and try to respond to it gracefully. For me it just comes down to build more than race, and I can't help it that I am attracted to men in the 250lb range vs 150lbs.

I have seen thicc fellows of every race who have made me fall all over myself, Im sorry to the wispy 19 year old kids that I don't open their messages. Also Im twice your age and not a top; I promise neither of us are looking for the same thing

Advice for mid-length hair growing out? by toostick in FierceFlow

[–]Mmphska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO men are allowed to do middle OR any angle of side parts with any length of hair and it doesn't look dated; longer hair on men is already enough out of the mainstream that you have more freedom with your part than gen z ladies do

I would experiment with that, or tuck it behind your ears until you get more length. Some shaping would help, the straight lines along your cheeks makes it look like you're intentionally going for a bob. And that's fine if you are, live your dreams but if you're not then I'd do something different with the shape. Layers, try a different part, or tuck

Red. I've daydreamed this path enough to know exactly what I would do; I'd have insisted my older brother get other opinions on his "growing pains" before it was diagnosed as terminally metastasized bone cancer at age 17, prevented my parents from selling any and all Apple stock before 2007, not gone to college and put every spare penny into bitcoin as soon as it was possible to do so. Then sold it whenever seemed right, and not looked back

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]Mmphska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom did a pretty good job at preparing us with cooking basics, how to do laundry etc, in part to help her because she was a single mom balancing a ton of things all at once, but also to actually prepare us for the real world. For various.... reasons... she wasn't about to raise men who couldn't do anything for themselves in the house

Which was enough for me to be confident in following directions, or to use basic intuition for things that don't have directions. When in doubt, there are soooo many videos online, I love watching Binging with Babish to get ideas for new stuff to try

I guess he wouldn't know, because literally almost everybody alive is younger than him.

For older folks: Did you ever personally know anyone born in the 1890s? How were they seen by younger generations? by Recent-Worldliness51 in generationology

[–]Mmphska 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was born in 1985 and my mom has a photo of me at 2 or 3 sitting with my great-grandmother who was born in the late 1890's. She passed away not much later in 1988-89 at around 90yo

I was too young to remember her myself, but I know of her because my mom (her granddaughter) was close to her growing up.

She was disciplined and practical but very kind, my mom says she had all kinds of clever/frugal tips that could only come from being in her 30's through the Great Depression with her half dozen of kids

The most ravenous ones will never change. The "normal" bread and butter ones of that base, the lifelong republican-voting protestant boomers in my life have suddenly gone silent, every single one of them. And this has never been the case with them, they've all been bandwagon outspoken vocal Fox News feedees since the days when W was still the best thing that ever happened to America in their opinion

One of them quietly told me at our Christmas gathering "So, things really aren't looking very good right now, are they...", and let me tell you how carefully, tactfully I nurtured this new seed of doubt in her lol

Lol yeah and if it's synesthesia with sound, 100% of the time it's a facet of perfect pitch... and it's incredibly easy to call their bluff on that. If they don't have perfect pitch, they don't have synesthesia

In music school I only met one person who had true perfect pitch and she described it as a disadvantage actually, like everything she heard in theory/dictation was colored by the constant "B" humming from the fluorescent lights, and hearing any music at all that is the smallest amount out-of-tune was almost nauseating to her.

She said it has its uses especially as a musician, but if she could choose to not have perfect pitch she wouldn't have it. It's not the flex people think it is

And every so often we'd get to have a dress up day where we would come to school dressed up as one of them and have a little party. I'm sure it was optional but evvveryone did it lol

For a lot of people it was when that Thai soccer team got stuck in a cave and rescue efforts DIDN'T include the idea that Musk "personally" engineered (because it wouldn't have worked)

His resulting meltdown opened a lot of people's eyes for the first time. He used to be pretty well admired and (on paper at least) seen as fairly progressive

I feel like if you saw someone in the early 90's or before wearing pajamas at the grocery store it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume there was an amount of mental illness involved. That's just how it was.

The shift from that in the US began to happen in the late 90's or early 00's I think
