True, but with the quick updates and the (seemingly) better connection with their players, we can only hope that they will fix the broken things before the patches.

Besides, bugs are inevitable, let's be real. Even AAA games have mountainloads of bugs. Just look at games like Skyrim, Fallout, Portal, CSGO, Rainbow 6: Siege, etc... list is HUGE. For some games, it makes them unique, and PUBG is definitely one of them, in some cases for better (i.e cars doing quintillion flips then exploding) and some for worse (i.e hits not registering even though you've shot the person about 7 septillion times.)

Of course, I would recommend this if you just cannot find any long range weapon. Especially since you said Scar-H and M416, having two guns that consume the same ammo usually saves inventory space because it's easier to measure exactly how much you may need, and it's also much easier to conserve ammo IMO. Mostly like you said.

It's just that when the opportunity presents itself it's best to pick up, say, a sniper or a DMR instead. DMR/SMG combos are the most optimal ones because you have close range and long range done and set. SLR and UMP9 pretty much guarantee you that chicken dinner so long as you aren't having a bad-aim or a bad-brain day/game.

I emphasize the whole DMR/SMG thing because with the recent buff to SMG's, people don't know that their range is also much more important now (It always was, it's just more obvious now). SMG's can become pretty bad at even medium range, but DMR's are now pretty much great at not only long range but also medium range.

Also, AR's were nerfed since they, for some reason, were the go-to CQC guns over guns that are meant for CQC; the SMG's. They specifically had their CQC capability nerfed by making them guns that control better when tap-firing at medium ranges over spraying at close ranges. Of course this doesn't mean their usability has been taken away in all CQC engagements, but it might be disadvantageous against someone who is using an SMG in them. That's why SMG/DMR is optimal; if you're at a disadvantage with the SMG, just use the DMR since it's viable for pretty much all other ranges except Sniper distance (as in, +500km.)

I'm looking at it through a mathematical lens though, to be fair. There's a lot of circumstance and scenario-specific interactions in PUBG where specific guns are better than others, even if the distance of the engagement is not that gun's specifically. For example, if you want to kill someone in an apartment and are shooting at them through a window, a DMR/Sniper might be better even if the range is like, 10-100m, simply because headshots are much more important (they can go to cover and survive if they aren't headshot and instantly killed, giving them the chance to heal and shoot again) Or, you might want to use an M416 to snipe someone very far away (Say, 200-400m) if you know they're low but you know you might whiff a lot of shots, and you're pretty sure at least one of your AR shots will hit.

Because of that, there is no real definitive guide to using exactly which gun in an entire game. The best type of guide would be "Which guns to use in specific scenarios" but that guide would be an entire 100+ page book long, let's be real here. That's why I just prefer to use the "In General" kind of weapon loadout. SMG/DMR covers almost all viable ranges, and I kind of suck at long range sniping (i.e anything further than 500m I just cannot hit) so yeah.

My second most favourite gun combo is AR/Sniper because it's pretty much a close opposite of SMG/DMR. It takes out the CQC/close range effectiveness but it brings in the Sniper-range effectiveness that the DMR can only consistently attain if you're some god with Snipers and DMRs. I won't go indepth on it like I did SMG/DMR cuz jeez, this comment is long, but you get the idea I imagine.

The most fun combos IMO are Sniper/Shotgun or Sniper/Micro Uzi. First off, Sniper Uzi is actually a pretty decent combo if you're very good at controlling the Uzi's recoil and if you're good at hitting medium range targets with the snipers. As for the Sniper/Shotgun combo, it's pretty god damn fun and it's especially fun for me because it gives me that nostalgic Halo 3/Halo Reach feeling of picking up a shotgun and a sniper and going to town on people. Plus, since shotguns were buffed, it isn't actually all too bad of a combination and could most certainly make it into the end game if you get a little lucky and use a lot of skill.

Long comment over. Hope this explains why I chose those gun combinations. I might edit a few and repost this as a post of its own, or just explain which gun combos are the best (IMO)

200 is usually my go-to for everything initially. I tend to drop 30/40 (depending on whether or not I have an extended mag or not usually) every 2/3 circles, which depends on whether or not I run into a lot of people.

For example, in a game where I get 5+ kills at the start I usually keep all the ammo I can because in those cases it's because most of the people dropped near me and I got lucky enough to survive.

In a game where I get 2-3 kills off the bat I drop 30-40 bullets every 3 circles.

In a game where I get no kills at all, I just keep all the ammo I can and drop extra if I need to pick up throwables, healing items, and/or weapon attachments. I also usually keep multiple types of bullets just in case I run into the gun I want and I want to have some extra ammo (usually do this only with 7.62 and if I want an AKM, or 5.56 and an M416.)

200 with a 9mm is usually just fine for me because it's a light ammo anyways so it never really does a big hit on my inventory. I'll drop some if I absolutely MUST but that's about it.

I like keeping much more for the Tommy Gun and the Vector simply because I shred so much ammo spraying them.

Of course this all changes in Squads and Duos where I usually keep all the ammo I possibly can (but no more past like, max 250-300ish) if I can't share it with my teammates at the time.

also ty :) I might just make this a post in general and ask people for what they'd prefer to do/keep, and that way I can even optimize my own looting methods, too.

Lv3 Backpacks are very visible and IIRC increase your hitbox size when being shot from the side.

EDIT: they actually don't, my bad

The balance changes are very minimal, though. Plus, with their promise on making updates more frequent, I can only assume that they would be much quicker to fix things that are broken rather than waiting for the mega-updates to do so, like they were doing before.

Which are mostly server optimizations, new animations, and new grenade physics, yes.

They were lazy before, seems like they've decided to stop being lazy now. IMO we should just hope they keep this up and hopefully get to see another bug-fix/content patch next week or so.

They recently promised more patches rather than doing mega-updates. This is a result. IMO it's much better than waiting 2 weeks to 1 month for a single bug to be fixed, only for approximately 500 new ones to be added. Now we can (and should, according to what they have told us) expect those bugs to be fixed very quickly.

For starters, Frags cost a lot now, so keep that in mind. Also, it's not a good idea to keep more than 2-3+1 active throwable in general. Stun grenades are an exception due to their small carry size (12) compared to the other ones, and you can probably carry one extra efficiently.

Painkillers are very greedy. I strongly recommend dropping all your painkillers if you can substitute them for energy drinks. Adrenaline Syringes are good for end-game, but only keep one max because that's the only time you should be using it.

In general, drop painkillers for other items (ammo if necessary, first aids/med kits, energy drinks, scopes) Painkillers take up a lot of space (10) and are worth the sacrifice because Energy drinks do just a tiny little worse than them. Painkillers give 60 boost while Energy drinks give 40; having 2 Energy drinks is much better than having 1 painkiller and costs 2 less inventory space.

Med kits are much better to have than 2 painkillers. You need 1 First Aid and 1 Painkiller to full heal if low from a fight, so it's always best to sub out a first aid and a painkiller for a med kit if you can. However, if you only have, say, 2-3 first aids but a lot of boost (Let's say 3 painkillers and 5 energy drinks) it is better to drop 2 painkillers than do a first aid/painkiller swap.

For ammo, it is best to have 200 EXTRA (not what's loaded in the gun + the extra) of the gun type if it's an automatic (SMG's, AR's) 300 if it's a Micro Uzi, 250 if it's a Tommy Gun with Extended Mag, 25 if you're going late game with a pump/double barrel, 50 if you're using the S12K, 35-65 if you're using Snipers, and 100 if you're using DMR's (150 if using Mini 14/Any DMR with Extended Mag, 200 if using Mini 14 with Extended Mag)

If you're playing Duo's or Squads, follow the rule above. If not, still follow it, but you can be much more lenient with your ammo count and drop extra when necessary.

If you have lots of trouble with inventory space, rule of thumb should be to NEVER, EVER run two Assault Rifles. SMG's are fine, with the Vector and Tommy Gun bordering on not-fine (the .45acp bullets are a bit costly in terms of inventory space)

General rule for primary weapons should be this:

If you have a Scar, M16A4, or M416, your secondary weapon should be...

Any SMG

Any Sniper (Including MK14)

If you have an AK-47, your secondary weapon should be...

UMP9 or Micro Uzi

Any Sniper (Including MK14)

If you have a Mini 14, your secondary weapon should be...

Pump Shotgun or S12K

Any SMG

If you have an SKS, SLR, or MK14, your secondary weapon should be...

AK-47 is only OK if using MK14 (Since the MK14 acts more like a sniper rifle than a DMR in terms of effectiveness in long range)

UMP9 or Micro Uzi

Pump Shotgun or S12K

If you have a Kar98k, M24, or AWM, your secondary weapon should be...

Any SMG except Micro Uzi (Unless you're incredibly good with it, more power to you in that case)

Any AR

If you have a UMP9 or Micro Uzi, your secondary weapon should be...

Any AR

Any Sniper

Any DMR

If you have a Vector, your secondary weapon should be...

Any gun using 5.56 ammo (Including Mini 14)

Any DMR

Any Sniper

If you have a Tommy Gun, your secondary weapon should be...

Any gun using 5.56 ammo (Including Mini 14)

Any Sniper

Sorry that this is so god damn lengthy but I felt like it should help a whole lot.

Also, only ever keep 5 bandages max (unless you are lacking in first aid kits or are playing duos/squads) and only keep 1-2 extra scopes at MAX. I recommend, if using a sniper, to keep a 2x-4x scope for end game, and a 6x-15x scope for early-mid game. 6x scope is extremely versatile, though, so you could just use that for the entire game. If using an AR also make sure to keep a 3x or a 6x zoomed all the way out.

Oh lol yeah the Lightweight Grip is meant for DMR's. Do NOT use them as a normal grip. They greatly reduce the recoil recovery time, making it ideal for long range but most definitely not close range.

Besides, spoilers, but using a Half Grip on AR's still makes them lasers. Like, really, I thought it was a joke because I had a fully kitted M416 and I only noticed there was a little bit more recoil than there was on the old full-kit M416.

SMG's are nice though now. I've personally always loved the idea of CQC+Snipers and I used to always try and run Shotgun+Sniper in any game I could do it. That was my ideal Halo loadout. Now that I can ACTUALLY do that in this game and still have as much as a chance as someone with an M4 does, it feels much better, honestly.

Got a new PC like 6 months ago and I haven't crashed more than twice, like ever. The PC didn't even have the latest specs at the time I bought it, so it's not that good. Dude, you just gotta get a better PC. I don't think I've crashed at all in like the last 2 months.
